In addition to announcing its TCL 10 series of smartphones, the company has also teased its first foldable smartphone at CES 2020.
Truth be said, TCL did not really release much info regarding this foldable smartphone. In fact, the phone is listed as “Foldable Smartphone Concept”, which does not sound reassuring that it will arrive soon.
The company did not give out an ETA on when the device will arrive. It is expected to launch sometime in 2020, but we’re still in the dark regarding that.
This is not the first time TCL is talking about its first foldable smartphone
This is not the first time that TCL is talking about its foldable phone. The company actually showed off its ‘DragonHinge’ for its foldable devices at MWC 2020. Since then, however, we did not get any additional info regarding the company’s foldable phone, until now.
TCL was expected to introduce its first foldable smartphone in 2019. That was expected to happen mainly because the company showed off its hinge so early in the year. Needless to say, nothing happened.
Well, TCL may not have shared a release date, or the device’s specs, but we do have quite a few images of the device. These are all renders, and you can check them out down below.
If this ends up being the final design of TCL’s first foldable, it will be designed on a similar principle as the Galaxy Fold. This phone opens up like a book, right down the middle.
The device does have considerable bezels on the side, much thicker than the Galaxy Fold 2 will have. It does not seem to have a display camera hole, or a display notch, though.
What’s interesting here, is that its power / lock key is placed at the top of the phone. Now, no matter whether the device is opened or closed, that power key will be at the top of the device.
The device includes four cameras on the back
This phone includes four cameras on the back. Those four cameras are vertically-aligned, and an LED flash is placed right below them. Not a single one of those cameras protrude on the back, at least not based on these renders.
TCL will, hopefully, reveal more information about this device at MWC 2020 next month. TCL did not confirm that, or anything of the sort, but we’re expecting it to happen. MWC is much more smartphone-focused than CES, so it makes sense.
On top of that, TCL did talk about its foldable smartphone for the first time during MWC 2019, so… let’s see what happens.
