Motorola’s mysterious stylus smartphone was leaked by both Evan Blass and 91mobiles quite recently, but we had no idea what it will be called. Well, Evan Blass has just confirmed that the phone’s name is Moto G Stylus, not the Motorola Edge+.
Many people assumed that the device will be called the Motorola Edge+, as that will be the name of the company’s upcoming flagship. That assumption was made despite Mr. Blass’ hint that this is not a flagship phone.
Motorola’s mysterious device will be called the Moto G Stylus, not the Motorola Edge+
Well, the tipster just went to Twitter to clear things up, and confirm that the device will be called the Moto G Stylus, not the Motorola Edge+. It wasn’t difficult to assume this is not a flagship phone based on its design, and a rather basic-looking stylus.
The device will have a ‘chin’ that will be noticeably thicker than on other flagships. On top of that, this stylus looks like a regular stylus with a rubber tip, though we could be wrong.
The phone will be made out of metal and glass or plastic, and it will resemble the Moto G8 and G8 Power. A display camera hole will be included in the top-left corner, and all of its physical keys will sit on the right.
A capacitive fingerprint scanner will be included on the back of this phone. The phone’s Motorola logo will actually double as a fingerprint scanner.
The device will include four cameras on the back, it seems. All those cameras will be vertically-aligned, though we still do not know what sensors will Motorola use here.
The device may include the same camera sensors as the Moto G8 Power
If it plans to use the same sensors as on the Moto G8 Power, however, then we know what to expect. The Moto G8 Power’s specs surfaced, so… we can take a guess.
The G8 Power will include 16, 2, and two 8-megapixel cameras on the back. It is possible that these exact same sensors will be included on the Moto G Stylus as well.
We’re not really sure when will the Moto G Stylus arrive, but it could launch alongside the Moto G8 series. Motorola still hasn’t confirmed when will that happen, but ‘soon’ is a good assumption.
Motorola is also expected to announce its new flagship soon. The Motorola Edge+ will be its name, allegedly, and it seems like it will arrive during MWC 2020.
It has been several years since Motorola announced a proper flagship, so that will be interesting. We still do not know what will the phone look like, nor what specs will it sport, so stay tuned.
UPDATE: The Moto G Stylus surfaced on Geekbench. According to the information provided by the site, it will include 4GB of RAM, and Android 10 out of the box. It is also said that it will use a Snapdragon SoC, but we’re not sure which one.
UPDATE 2: 91mobiles has published two live images of the Moto G Stylus. Those two images are stitched into the same image, and show the phone from the front and back. These images only prove that the leaked renders were accurate. The source also notes that the phone will feature a 6.3 or 6.4-inch fullHD+ display, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. The phone will be made out of polycarbonate (plastic).
