The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha was supposed to become available at the end of December, but it seems like its release has been delayed. This information comes from Abacus News.
The source claims that Xiaomi itself provided it with such information. It says that Xiaomi confirmed that it currently doesn’t have a release date for the Mi MIX Alpha, but that it will share it soon.
It is not exactly surprising that the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha got delayed
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha is a very forward-thinking smartphone, so the fact that it got delayed does not come as a surprise. This is a futuristic smartphone, at least it looks like one.
The Mi MIX Alpha has a screen-to-body ratio of 180.6-percent. The vast majority of its body is covered by the display, including most of its back, and sides as well.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha comes with a highly-tweaked software in order to take advantage of all that screen real-estate. The device will also be quite expensive when it arrives, as it’s more of a concept smartphone.
This smartphone is expected to cost CNY20,000 (approximately $2,800) when it launches. It is actually possible that the phone will not be available outside of China, but we’ll see.
Organizing mass production for such a device is not an easy task, not at all. It is quite of the most visually striking smartphones ever, that’s for sure, so Xiaomi may opt to offer it in other markets.
This futuristic phone does not skimp out on specs, not at all. It is fueled by the Snapdragon 855+ SoC, while it includes 12GB of RAM. The phone also comes with 512GB of UFS 3.0 flash storage.
It comes with a flexible wrap-around display, and in-display fingerprint scanner
The phone includes a 7.92-inch 2250 x 2088 Flexible Super AMOLED display, and a 4,050mAh battery. That battery can be quickly recharged using 40W fast wired charging.
The phone also includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, and three cameras on the back. Those rear-facing cameras are also being used as its front-facing cameras, as it has a display on the back.
You will find 108, 12, and 20-megapixel cameras on this phone. A 108-megapixel sensor is its main camera, while 12 and 20-megapixel cameras are its telephoto and ultrawide units, respectively.
Android 10 comes pre-installed on the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha. On top of Google’s OS, you’ll find Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 skin, though it’s highly-tweaked for this phone. That vertical strip on the back is made out of ceramic, while Xiaomi also used titanium alloy for the phone’s frame. This phone may not be foldable, but it’s one of the most unique smartphones launched in 2019.
