Nubia’s CEO, Ni Fei, has just confirmed something really interesting. He confirmed that the Red Magic 5G handset will ship with 16GB of RAM.
He shared this information via his official Weibo profile, by sharing a screenshot from the device. This screenshot / post confirms that the Red Magic 5G will include 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. So, Nubia will include the latest, and fastest RAM that is available.
The Red Magic 5G will utilize 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM
Ni Fei actually confirmed that LPDDR5 RAM is coming to the device earlier this month. So, that part is not new, but all the other info you’re seeing here is.
In addition to the RAM info, this screenshot confirms that the phone will come with ‘NX659J’ model number. It will come with Redmagic OS v3.0 out of the box, presumably on top of Android 10.
The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865, as this screenshot confirms. You will also notice that the chip will be combined with the Snapdragon X55 modem for 5G connectivity.
The phone will include 256GB of internal storage as well. Now, if you take a look at the phone’s notification shade, you’ll notice something really interesting.
On the left, next to the time and fan icon, you’ll notice that it says ‘144Hz’. This clearly indicates that the phone will include a high refresh rate display. Red Magic 5G will sport a 144Hz display, it seems, and thus trump the Galaxy S20 series, and other phones with 120Hz displays.
The fan icon is there because the phone will have a cooling system of some sort. It will almost certainly include a fan in there, as this phone is made for gaming, and thus needs to be able to keep itself cool all the time.
This handset was supposed to launch at MWC 2020
That is basically all the information that Nubia’s CEO shared this time around. This device will probably become official in the near future. It was supposed to come during MWC 2020 in Barcelona, but as you’re probably aware at this point, MWC 2020 got canceled.
Quite a few high-profile companies canceled their participation at MWC 2020 due to Coronavirus fears, and that basically forced GSMA to cancel the event altogether.
The Nubia Red Magic 5G will probably be announced in China in the near future. This device will be coming to other markets as well, though, we just don’t know when.
Quite a few Red Magic-branded smartphones have been released under the Nubia brand. The Red Magic 5G will definitely be the most powerful one. We still do not know how much will it cost, though.
