The Promising Future Of 5G In 2020

It almost seems like yesterday that we were anticipating the launch of the 4G wireless network. However, as we move through 2020 things are about to advance once again as we look forward to a world with 5G.

5G is the next generation of mobile Internet connectivity which will be used on mobile devices in the United Kingdom. This will bring faster Internet speeds and more reliable internet connections to mobile phones and tablets. But what exactly is the promising future of 5G in 2020 going to deliver?

Combined with the latest mobile technology, users of 5G will be able to experience download speeds of the like we have never seen before. It may even be possible to reach download speeds of 1GBps, which is a great deal faster than anything we currently have using the 4G network. In some areas of the United Kingdom, it is already possible to experience 5G when using the internet on mobile devices.

EE was the first UK carrier to launch its 5G network, doing so in May 2019. Having started in just 6 cities it has now expanded to include over 50 different times and cities in the United Kingdom. London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow are just some of the cities where 5G is now on offer for EE customers.
Vodafone, Three, O2 and Sky Mobile have followed suit and although a 5G connection is not available in every area of the cities listed above it is only going to expand in the future. In addition, the potential download speeds of up to 1GBps are highly unlikely to be met sometime soon but people have already experienced average speeds of between 200Mbps and 400Mbps when coupled with a high-end device.

Other than faster download speeds, what does the promising future of 5G in 2020 hold? Smoother streaming of online content is one of the major benefits, especially for those who like to watch television shows, movies or live sport on their mobile device. Mobile casino UK players and online gamblers are also set to benefit from greater streaming speeds and improved connectivity. Players will be able to enjoy online casinos on their mobile phone and tablet knowing that the internet connection is not going to drop and buffer the game. There’s nothing worse than being on a good winning run only to see your Internet connection drop.

Playing at live casinos is also set to become a much better experience thanks to the introduction of 5G. The streaming should be a lot smoother than we have ever seen before and it could also open the way for virtual reality based online casinos. Immersive media experiences are said to be one of the biggest benefits of using 5G and this applies to the online casino industry.

Research has shown that one low band (600-700MHz) tower can cover hundreds of square miles. The 5G service from that tower ranges from 30 to 250 megabits per second in speeds. A high band tower will work within a one mile radius can roughly offer a service 1-3 gigabits per second speeds. The rollout of 5G is very exciting, especially for those who love gaming on their mobile phone and tablet.
