Samsung Confirms 'Galaxy Z Flip' Name Via Official Website

The Galaxy Z Flip name has just been confirmed by Samsung, via the company’s official website. This confirmation came via the company’s Romanian website.

The Galaxy Z Flip name has been confirmed by Samsung itself

A page for the Galaxy Z Flip protective case has been set up on Samsung Romania, and thus the name of the phone got confirmed. No additional details were provided, though.

Luckily, the phone has been leaking for quite some time now, and we know what to expect. This will become the company’s first clamshell foldable smartphone, and second foldable overall.

The Galaxy Z Flip will fold vertically, and it will include a display camera hole. The device will be made out of metal and glass, include a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and two rear cameras.

The Snapdragon 855+ will fuel this smartphone, while the device will include 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A 6.7-inch display will be included on the inside, while a 1.05-inch secondary display will be placed on the outside.

Two 12-megapixel cameras will sit on the back of this phone. A regular, main camera, and an ultra-wide secondary unit. Android 10 will come pre-installed on this phone, along with Samsung’s skin.

A 3,300mAh battery will also be a part of the package, but it will be separated into two units. The device will support 15W charging, if rumors are accurate, while it will also support wireless charging.

The device will launch on February 11, along with the Galaxy S20 series

The Galaxy Z Flip will become official on the same day as the Galaxy S20 series. The device will launch on February 11, and become available soon after that, at least in the US.

The phone is expected to cost around $1,500 in the US, but it will be a bit more expensive in Europe, and some other regions.

The Galaxy Z Flip is not a direct successor to the Galaxy Fold 2. Samsung is allegedly planning to announce the Fold 2 in the first half of this year. That handset will be the company’s true flagship foldable handset.

The Galaxy Fold 2 will almost certainly ship with the Snapdragon 865. The device is expected to offer an improved design over the original, and remove that unseemly display notch.

Not much information regarding that phone surfaced up until now. We’ll just have to wait until the MWC 2020 passes, as that’s probably when rumors and leaks will start popping up. Until then, we have three Galaxy S20 phones, and the Z Flip to think about, so stay tuned.
