The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 concept design has just surfaced online. This design comes from Waqar Khan, a well-known designer of concept smartphones. Mr. Khan actually partnered up
with 91mobiles to share this design.
This Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 concept design is inspired by a recent patent that was spotted by 91mobiles. That patent showed a phone which is quite unique. Its display not only covers the whole front and the sides, but part of the pack as well.
This Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 concept design shows a rather interesting, futuristic smartphone
Think of this device as something between a regular smartphone, and Xiaomi’s Mi MIX Alpha phone. Those design sketches looked really nice, but the phone really shines in these concept renders.
Truth be said, this could be even a commercial unit of the Mi MIX Alpha. Xiaomi may opt to change that phone’s design a bit in order to push it towards consumers. We’re only guessing here, anything is possible at the moment.
Xiaomi did say that the Mi MIX Alpha will go on sale, so it’s even possible that its design will stay intact. That phone is kind of unique, and some of its software features are tied to that design. So, this new patent may actually represent the Mi MIX 4 instead, or some other phone.
In any case, as you can see in the provided renders, the phone is made out of metal and glass. Its display covers the vast majority of the device, and bezels are basically non-existent.
This concept handset has the ‘MIX’ branding on the back, and two vertically-aligned cameras on the back. Those cameras are centered, and below them sits an LED flash.
The front-facing camera is not visible here
Interestingly enough, its front-facing camera is not visible here. So, it’s possible that the designer envisioned it to be placed under the display.
The designer actually opted to retain a 3.5mm headphone jack here. The patent design actually showed such a hole on the bottom of the phone, so it’s possible that hole was there for the audio jack.
As you can see, some interactive icons are shown on the side of this device. It seems like the designer envisioned the phone’s side as a replacement for the notification shade.
You can clearly see the battery status here, and the same goes for the network status, notification icons, and so on.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 was actually expected to arrive at the end of last year, but that didn’t happen. Xiaomi introduced the Mi MIX Alpha instead. We don’t know when will the Mi MIX 4 arrive, but stay tuned.
