Netmarble Ranks As Number 6 Top Publisher By Revenue For 2020

Netmarble has been on something of a rise lately and has now been named by App Annie as the top 6 publisher for 2020 by revenue.

The details come from App Annie’s list of top publishers, with the revenue rankings being based on the global mobile game market revenues from 2019. It also takes into account the revenues from both Android and iOS.

There are 52 publishers on the list, which means Netmarble being the number 6 top publisher is no small accomplishment. It also showcases that Netmarble has been doing pretty well this past year. Considering the list is based on global market revenue for mobile games.

Netmarble sees top publisher success due to games like The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross

Netmarble is a pretty large mobile game publisher and has its hands in a lot of different genres. One of its more recently launched games, The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, has helped contribute to the company’s success in becoming a top publisher on this list.

While it didn’t launch in the US or globally until a little earlier this year, it’s been out in Japan and South Korea since June of 2019. Which is where the revenue that helped contribute to this overall ranking came from.

Some of Netmarble’s other games that were part of its success include THE KING OF FIGHTERS ALLSTAR and MARVEL Future Fight. While Netmarble is towards the top, it was beat out by companies such as Tencent (which is number 1), NetEase, Activision-Blizzard, Supercell, and Bandai Namco.

Tencent is a given. Thanks to it being the publisher behind massive blowout hits like Call of Duty Mobile and PUBG MOBILE.

Activision Blizzard on the same token owns the Call of Duty franchise so it has a hand in the revenue coming in from Call of Duty Mobile too. Not to mention its own successful Hearthstone.

Meanwhile, companies like Epic Games, who makes the extremely popular Fortnite, is sitting at number 40.

Netmarble looks to the future

Being number 6 on this list is nothing to shake a stick at. In fact it’s still quite impressive when you look at how many brands are on the list.

It’s also a noticeable drop from where Netmarble was back in 2015. During that year App Annie ranked it as the number one publisher. For the same list and with the same number of brands. To help ensure it doesn’t fall any further, Netmarble is looking to the future.

In particular it plans to strengthen its global competitiveness through a mix of its own brands, as well as famous IPs that are known on a global scale. Perhaps in 2021 when this list comes out again Netmarble will be sitting a bit higher in the ranking like it was a few years ago.
