HMD Global has just announced a new Nokia smartphone, the Nokia C2. This handset is a brand new Android Go edition handset, which means it’s targeted at emerging markets.
This handset is a direct successor to the Nokia C1, which landed back in December last year. It is a considerable upgrade, as it comes with 4G support.
The Nokia C2 includes a larger display than the Nokia C1, and 4G connectivity
The Nokia C2 does feature a larger display than the Nokia C1, but the design is pretty much the same. The device is made out of polycarbonate (plastic), and it comes with a single camera on the back. The company’s branding is also included back there.
The power / lock, volume up, and volume down buttons are located on the right-hand side of this phone. Another physical button sits on the left, and this is a Google Assistant button.
The device’s bezels are not exactly thin, not at all. Even its side bezels are quite thick, but that’s what you’d expect out of an Android Go smartphone. Nokia’s branding is also present above the display. The device includes a rear-facing speaker, by the way.
The phone runs Android 9 Pie Go Edition, which is lighter than regular Android 9 Pie software. It also comes with a number of ‘Go’ apps by Google, that are meant to be used on such budget phones.
The device sports a 5.7-inch HD+ (1520 x 720) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is fueled by the Unisoc quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz.
The phone sports 1GB of RAM, 2,800mAh battery, and expandable storage
The Nokia C2 includes 1GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage (expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card). It seems like both single and dual SIM variants will be available.
A 2,800mAh battery is included inside of this device, while a 3.5mm headphone jack is also a part of the package. The company also included Bluetooth 4.2 here, while a USB Type-C port is not a part of the package, unfortunately.
A single 5-megapixel camera sits on the back of this phone, and it comes with an f/2.2 aperture lens. An LED flash is also present on the back of the device.
A 5-megapixel camera is included on the front of the phone as well, by the way. The phone also comes with FM Radio, in case you were wondering.
The Nokia C2 measures 154.8 x 75.59 x 8.85mm, and weighs 161 grams. The device was announced in Cyan and Black color variants, while we still do not know its price tag. More information regarding its pricing and availability should become available on March 19.
