Redmi has announced its new flagship in China, the K30 Pro. This smartphone has been announced in China, but it will make its way to global markets. Based on what happened last year, though, it may ship under a different name.
The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro were released globally as the Xiaomi Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro. So, The Redmi K30 and K30 Pro may arrive as the Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro, we’ll see.
In any case, the Redmi K30 Pro is somewhat different than the Redmi K30, in the design department. The Redmi K30 arrived at the end of last year with a pill-shaped display hole, and a different-looking back than this ‘Pro’ model.
The Redmi K30 Pro includes a pop-up camera, unlike the Redmi K30
The phone adopts the pop-up selfie camera setup from the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro, but the pop-up camera is now much faster. The phone itself is made out of metal and glass, in case you were wondering.
The device doesn’t have a display notch or a display hole, and it looks much sleeker than its sibling. Its bezels are almost non-existent, while all of its buttons are placed on the right. The power / lock key is red-colored on all variants of the phone.
There are four cameras included on the back of this phone, and they are all part of a circular camera module. There are two cameras in each row here, and an LED flash sits below them.
Redmi’s logo is also placed on the back, while the phone’s back side is curved. The Redmi K30 Pro also offers a curved display, as you can see in the provided images.
A high refresh display is not included in the package
The device features a 6.67-inch fullHD+ display, though unfortunately it’s a 60Hz panel. It does offer 180Hz touch response rate, though. This is actually a really nice display, from Samsung, and it supports HDR10+ as well. The display is protected by a sheet of Gorilla Glass 5. That same glass is applied to the back of this device as well.
The Snapdragon 865 fuels this smartphone, while the device comes in several RAM and storage options. The base model comes with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The middle-of-the-road variant sports 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The most expensive unit offers 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Now, there is also a ‘Zoom Edition’ of the device, that variant comes in an 8GB RAM option (LPDDR5) with either 128GB or 256GB of storage, we’re presuming UFS 3.1.
A 64-megapixel camera from Sony (IMX686 sensor) is this phone’s main camera (0.8um pixel size, EIS, OIS, 1/1.7-inch sensor). A 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera (123-degree angle lens) is also included, as is a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The regular model includes a 5-megapixel macro camera as its fourth sensor. The ‘Zoom Edition’ variant comes with an 8-megapixel telephoto camera instead (3x optical zoom, 30x digital zoom, 50mm macro, OIS, EIS, four-axis image stabilization).
33W wired charging is included, as is an audio jack
A 4,700mAh battery is also included in this package, and the device supports 33W fast wired charging. Wireless charging is not supported here, by the way.
A 3.5mm headphone jack is included, while the phone comes with Android 10 and MIUI 11. 5G is supported, as is Bluetooth 5.1. The phone also includes an IR blaster, and IP53 water and dust resistance.
The Redmi K30 Pro comes in Blue, Gray, Purple, and White color variants. It will become available starting on March 27 in China, and its pricing will start at CNY2,999 ($423). The pricing of the ‘Zoom Edition’ variant starts at CNY3,799 ($536). We’re still not sure when will the global model arrive.
