Redmi Note 9 Pro & Note 9 Pro Max Announced With 5,020mAh Battery, Android 10

Redmi has just announced two new smartphones during its press event in India, the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max. These two smartphones are actually quite similar, and they do have a lot to offer for the asking price.

These two devices not only look the same, but share the vast majority of their specifications. As you can see in the provided image, the two devices are made out of metal and glass.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro & Note 9 Pro Max both include quad camera setups

Both devices include four cameras on the back, and those cameras are centered. Redmi’s logo is placed on the back as well, while the back side is curved a bit.

A display camera hole is placed on the front, and it is centered as well. Both phones include flat displays, and have rather thin bezels. The thickest bezel is the bottom one, so I guess we can say that they include a ‘chin’ below the display.

Both devices include a side-facing fingerprint scanner, that sensor is placed on the right. Both devices also include two SIM card slots, and on top of that, a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

A 3.5mm headphone jack can be found here as well, and the same goes for an infrared sensor that is placed at the top of both smartphones. You’ll also find two microphones on their bodies

A 6.67-inch fullHD+ display is also included

The Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max include a 6.67-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) LCD DotDisplay, each of the two phones. The Gorilla Glass 5 protects those displays, while we’re looking at a 20:9 aspect ratio here.

Snapdragon 720G 8nm 64-bit octa-core processor fuels the two phones, while a 5,020mAh battery is included in both devices. 18W fast wired charging is supported by the Redmi Note 9 Pro, while the ‘Max’ variant supports charging up to 33W. Wireless charging is not included.

Both phones come in 4GB and 6GB LPDDR4X RAM variants that include 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Both phones also come in 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM options with 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. MicroSD card expansion offers storage expansion up to 256GB.

Android 10 comes pre-installed on both phones, along with Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 skin. P2i splash-proof coating is applied to both phones, while both support Dual 4G VoLTE, and Bluetooth 5. A Type-C USB port is included on the bottom of both phones.

The ‘Max’ model includes a larger main camera sensor

Camera setups on these two phones differ a bit. The Redmi Note 9 Pro includes a 48-megapixel primary camera on the back, that is Samsung’s ISOCELL GM2 sensor. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max trades that for a 64-megapixel camera.

Other cameras on the back are the same. Both phones include an 8-megapixel camera with a 120-degree ultra-wide angle lens. A 5-megapixel (2cm macro) camera is also included, as is a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

The Note 9 Pro Max includes a 32-megapixel camera on the front, while the Note 9 Pro has a 16-megapixel camera on its front side.

Both devices have been announced in Interstellar Black, Aurora Blue, and Glacier White color variants. The Redmi Note 9 Pro’s pricing starts at Rs. 12,999 ($175) in India, while the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max’s pricing starts at Rs. 14,999 ($202). The first phone will go on sale on March 17, while the ‘Max’ will follow on March 25.

We still do not know when will the two phones arrive to countries other than India. They are, for sure, coming to Europe, though, and several other regions.
