Redmi has announced a new smartphone, the Note 9S. This is the company’s new mid-range handset. The device is made out of metal and glass, and it includes a centered display camera hole.
The phone comes with thin bezels, the bottom bezel is a bit thicker than the rest, but not by much. This smartphone features four cameras on the back, and those cameras are placed in two rows, two cameras per row.
The camera module does protrude on the back, and it is centered. Redmi’s branding can be seen on the back of this phone, while the device includes a side-facing fingerprint scanner.
That fingerprint scanner doubles as the phone’s power / lock button. Above it, you’ll notice the volume up and down buttons as well.
The Redmi Note 9S includes a 6.67-inch display, SD720G SoC, and up to 6GB of RAM
This smartphone features a 6.67-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) LCD DotDisplay with the Gorilla Glass 5 on top of it. The Snapdragon 720G fuels this smartphone.
The Redmi Note 9S comes in two variants. Its base model comes with 4G of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. The more expensive model includes 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage.
There are two SIM card slots included in this phone, and a separate microSD card slot. Android 10 comes pre-installed on the phone, along with Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 skin.
A 5,020mAh battery is included in the package, and it is not removable. The phone supports 18W fast wired charging, while wireless charging is not a part of the offering.
A 3.5mm headphone jack is available on the device, as are two microphones. An IR blaster is also included here, and so is an FM radio module. The phone also includes Bluetooth 5 support, and a Type-C USB port on the bottom.
The device is splash-proof, and includes a 48-megapixel main camera on the back
The Redmi Note 9S is splash-proof, thanks to P2i coating. The phone supports Dual 4G with VoLTE connectivity. A 48-megapixel camera (ISOCELL GM2 sensor, f/1.79 aperture, PDAF, EIS, 0.8um pixel size) is this phone’s main camera.
An 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera (120-degree angle lens) is also included on the back of this phone. The same goes for a 5-megapixel 2cm macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. A 16-megapixel unit sits on the front side of this phone.
The Redmi Note 9S comes in Aurora Blue, Glacier White, and Interstellar Gray color options. Pricing for this device starts at $249. This device will see further discounts during Mi Fan Festival early next month.
