Earlier this morning Ubisoft officially revealed the next Assassin’s Creed game, called Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and indirectly confirmed that it will get a Stadia release.
If you watch the cinematic reveal trailer for the game, you’ll see at the very end of it that Stadia is listed alongside all the other platforms.
This probably isn’t a huge surprise though. Ubisoft has been a big supporter of Stadia since the beginning. It already has a number of games on Stadia too, including The Division 2, and Ghost Recon Breakpoint just to name a couple.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla won’t be the first AC game on Stadia
If you’ve subscribed since last Fall you already know but Assassin’s Creed Valhalla won’t be the first Assassin’s Creed game on Stadia.
You can already play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Which is currently the most recent game in the series. Ubisoft’s Uplay+ is also supposed to be launching on Stadia this year. And when it does, that will bring other Assassin’s Creed games.
When the game does launch for Stadia, expect it to be retail cost along with every other platform. Expect there to be multiple bundles available too. There will very likely be two or three editions of the game, with the non-standard ones offering bonus content, a year one pass with extra DLC, and potentially some currency for buying stuff.
This should be a simultaneous release
Ubisoft doesn’t list any specific dates for the launch of the game. It only lists that it will release Holiday 2020. So it will be out in time for the next-gen consoles.
This should also be a simultaneous release with Stadia. Meaning every platform gets it at the same time. Stadia has just published its reveal trailer of the game on YouTube. And in the description it does say that it will release Holiday 2020 “on Stadia.”
That doesn’t mean however that it will actually launch on the same day as other platforms. It should, but it may not. It is of course more likely that it will.
Now that Stadia has been around for about six months and new game releases are starting to hit other platforms, Stadia’s library of big-budget games is starting to expand. Pretty soon it will have a big lineup of “new” AAA games. Which is exactly what Stadia needs to entice even more people.
