Mobile attribution and marketing analytics company, AppsFlyer, has released a rather interesting report. A report that shows that consumers are spending more on apps lately, mainly due to COVID-19.
Consumers have been spending more on mobile apps lately
AppsFlyer has noticed a rather obvious consumer spend revenue increase over the past two weeks, on a global scale. In 40-percent of cases, the increase in revenue was above 20-percent.
The company notes that there has been a 10-percent increase in revenue just this week (week of March 31 – April 6), on a global scale.
The company even shared some details for specific app categories. When it comes to streaming apps, the revenue has dropped 35-percent in the aforementioned period of time.
Health and fitness apps have seen a revenue increase of 24-percent this week, and 35-percent since week 4. Finance apps, on the other hand, have seen an increase of 18-percent this week.
Food Delivery applications are also on the rise, as revenue raised 10-percent his week, and 25-percent since week 4. Gaming app revenues are seeing notable increases as well, while the revenue of shopping apps increased 15-percent since week 4.
Some UK-specific data has also been shared
Now, the company has also shared some UK-specific data. In the UK, Education applications have been extremely popular. Their revenue has increased 265-percent, believe it or not.
Health & Fitness applications have seen a NOI increase of 120-percent, organic installs by 100-percent, and revenue by 60-percent.
NOI of Shopping apps increased by 47-percent, while their revenue grew by 73-percent. Music and Photography apps have been immensely popular in the UK as well. Revenue of Music apps increased by 95-percent, while Photography apps follow with 90-percent.
These numbers clearly indicate that consumers are spending more on mobile apps these days. The outbreak is definitely the main reason why, as the company noted.
The whole situation may last for quite some time, so we may see further increases in-app revenue. Many people around the world are in self-quarantine at the moment, so such increases are not exactly unexpected.
People are at home much more than usual, so they’re trying to occupy their time somehow. Many of them are spending time on their phones / tablets, and are obviously spending more. That trend will probably continue in the coming weeks, as the current situation will probably not be over anytime soon.
