LG Folder 2 Is A New Dual-Screen Flip Phone With SOS Button

LG has announced a new flip phone in Korea, the LG Folder 2. This is the company’s new budget phone, and it runs Android. This device is a direct successor to the first-gen LG Folder which arrived back in 2018.

This smartphone comes with a T9 keypad, and it also has an SOS key on the back. You can set a special phone number to that button in case of an emergency. You will need to press it three times quickly in order to do it, though. That’s just for safety, and to avoid unnecessary calls.

Once you hit that button, your location info will also be sent, via text. It’s a neat addition that may save lives. Many people would say it’s unnecessary, though, and for the vast majority of them, it probably is.

The LG Folder 2 does not feature a touch-sensitive display

That being said, this device looks like your regular flip phone. It does not offer a touch-sensitive display, but it has two displays. One is located on the outside, and one on the inside.

The display on the outside is extremely small, it’s an 0.9-inch mono screen. You can check out some notifications via that display, and maybe time, battery life, and your signal status… but that’s pretty much it.

The display on the inside measures 2.8 inches. This is a QVGA LCD panel with 320 x 240 resolution. It is considerably bigger than the outer display, but still extremely small for today’s standards.

This phone also comes with an AI voice service. You can activate that by pressing the dedicated button which is located above the call button. That will activate either the voice service, or a recording function, based on the carrier.

AI voice service can share various information with you. You can ask it for the weather info, date, time, some calculations, and so on. This feature is made for Korea though, as is this smartphone.

The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 210, and it comes with a 2-megapixel camera

The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor, and it comes with 1GB of RAM. The device also packs in 8GB of internal storage, which is expandable.

A 2-megapixel camera is included on this device, while the phone also comes with an FM Radio. A 1,470mAh battery can be found on the inside of this phone, and the LG Folder 2 supports Bluetooth 4.1.

GPS is also a part of the package, and so is 4G connectivity. The LG Folder 2 measures 107.9 x 55 x 18mm, and it weighs 127 grams.

This smartphone comes in New Platinum Gray and White color variants. It is priced at 198,000 won ($162), and will become available in South Korea on April 17. This phone probably won’t leave Korea, but we’ll see.
