The OPPO Ace2 5G has become official in China. This is a new high-end smartphone from OPPO, and interestingly enough, it lost the ‘Reno’ branding.
The OPPO Ace2 5G is a direct successor to the OPPO Reno Ace
The OPPO Reno Ace was announced back in October last year, with the Snapdragon 855+. This is its successor, and it comes without the ‘Reno’ branding. OPPO is still launching Reno-branded phones, so this is a rather interesting move.
In any case, the OPPO Ace2 5G does have a lot to offer. As its name says, this phone does support 5G connectivity, thanks to the Snapdragon X55 modem that is included.
The device is made out of metal and glass, and it includes extremely thin bezels. The phone also sports a display camera hole in the top-left corner. There is a flat display included here, and four cameras on the back.
The phone does include an in-display fingerprint scanner (optical), and its back side is also curved. The device’s rear-facing camera module does protrude a bit, by the way.
The device includes a 6.5-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) AMOLED HDR display with 90Hz refresh rate. That display also offers 180Hz touch sampling rate, and we’re looking at a 91.7-percent screen-to-body ratio here.
This phone also includes 4D cooling, with carbon fiber and vapor cooling chamber. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 865 64-bit octa-core processor, the best Qualcomm has to offer.
The phone includes LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.0 flash storage, and supports 65W charging
The OPPO Ace2 5G also comes with 8GB / 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.0 flash storage. The 8GB RAM model comes in two storage variants (both listed), while the 12GB RAM model includes 256GB of storage. That is the only model available.
Android 10 comes pre-installed on this smartphone, along with ColorOS 7.1 skin. There are two SIM card slots inside of this phone, and the device sports stereo speakers. Dolby Atmos support is also included.
A 4,000mAh battery can be found inside this phone, and it supports 65W wired charging. This is OPPO’s SuperVOOC 2.0 Flash Charge tech. This phone also supports 40W Air VOOC wireless charging.
A 48-megapixel camera (0.8um pixel size, f/1.7 aperture) is the main camera on this phone. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera (ultra-wide lens with 116-degree FoV, f/2.2 aperture, 3cm macro), a 2-megapixel portrait camera, and a 2-megapixel mono unit (f/2.4 aperture).
A 16-megapixel camera (f/2.4 aperture) sits on the front side of this smartphone. Bluetooth 5.1 is also a part of the package, as is a Type-C USB port. The device comes in Aurora Sliver, Moon Rock Grey, and Fantasy Purple colors. Its pricing starts at CNY3,999 ($566), and will go on sale in China starting on April 20.
