The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 may still get the One UI 2.1 update. The confirmation comes from a moderator on Samsung’s official forums for South Korea. The official, who happens to be in charge of Galaxy Note software, says the team is optimizing the new software for the 2018 S Pen-wielding flagship.
Ever since Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 series with One UI 2.1, people using older Galaxy flagships have been looking forward to receiving the newest One UI version on their devices.
The Galaxy S10, Galaxy Note 10, and Galaxy Fold phones have already received the update. However, there has been little clarity about whether the Galaxy Note 9 will receive it or not.
Moderators on Samsung’s official forums for South Korea haven’t been able to tell if One UI 2.1 is ever going to be released for the Galaxy Note 9. Early last month, a moderator suggested that Samsung is preparing the new software for both Galaxy S9 and Note 9 devices.
However, a notification sent through the Samsung Members app in South Korea late last month suggested that there were no such plans. The same was further reiterated last week by another moderator on Samsung’s official forums for its home country.
Now, contradicting both the reports, a moderator from the Galaxy Note software team has said the work is in progress. The team is still figuring out which One UI 2.1 features can be pushed to the Galaxy Note 9.
Samsung optimizing One UI 2.1 for Galaxy Note 9
One UI 2.1 brings several new features to Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Features like Single Take, Night Hyperlapse, Pro Video mode, and improved Night Mode add greatly to the devices’ photography capabilities.
There are also other features like Quick Share, Music Share, and Custom Filter that are exclusive to One UI 2.1.
Samsung is currently working on to see which of these features can deliver optimal performance on the Galaxy Note 9. The team needs to make sure that Note 9 provides a stable software experience following the One UI 2.1 update.
The moderator didn’t completely confirm that the Galaxy Note 9 will get the latest iteration of Samsung’s custom Android skin.
The post on the official Samsung forum simply says this review process will take some time. So we might still have to wait for some time before we get to know for sure.
Nevertheless, this update does give hope that Samsung is working on One UI 2.1 for the Galaxy Note 9. If the device does get the latest Samsung software, we can expect the Galaxy S9 to get it as well.
