Google held it’s first Stadia Connect of the year and it included some pretty big news, as Google announced an official partnership with EA that will culminate with multiple games, beginning with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
This was one of 2019’s biggest hit games. So this is a big pull for Stadia. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on Stadia will be followed by Madden and FIFA, two more of EA’s biggest franchises.
There are no exact times of release for either of the sports titles. All Google and EA have said is that both games would be landing sometime this Winter. That means each one should be available before 2020 is over though.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order lands on Stadia this Fall
For fans of the Star Wars franchise, it’ll still be a while before the game is available to play on Stadia. This Fall could be as early as mid-September though. So realistically that may only be about four months.
That’s still quite a while to wait, but it’s better than waiting the entire year. Also worth keeping in mind is that there are going to be plenty of games landing between now and then.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is bound to be a Stadia hit. But it’s also potentially landing around the same time as Cyberpunk 2077. A game which launches in September after being pushed back from its initial April release date, with Stadia as a confirmed platform.
So it may steal some of the thunder from the popular EA-published title. If not most of it.
More games are coming in 2021
EA confirmed that it’s launching five games altogether as part of its Stadia partnership. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order arrives this Fall, with Madden and FIFA coming this Winter.
That means there are two games left that are part of the partnership that have yet to be announced. While it could really be anything, chances are more likely it’ll be something from EA’s AAA lineup.
Possible franchise titles could include Need For Speed, Battlefield, The Sims, SimCity, and even Dragon Age. Plants Vs Zombies and Titanfall are two other EA games that could make the cut. But another likely title could be Apex Legends. One of the more popular battle royale games that’s available on multiple platforms.
Out of the numerous big-name publishers that have released games for Stadia, EA is one of the biggest that prior to today had not been involved. EA is also one of the biggest publishers on the planet, so a Stadia deal is a big win for Google.
Now all that’s left is for Google to win over Activision-Blizzard. Which would be a major improvement on future available titles especially if Call of Duty was one of them.
