Best Casual Basketball Games
BIG WIN Basketball
- Price: Free
- In-Game purchases: Yes
- Download: Google Play
Kicking off our best casual basketball games list is BIG WIN Basketball, which lets you create a team and play a full game with easy to use controls.
BIG WIN has multiple modes for you to play through too so if you get a little bored with the regular game modes you have options to help switch things up a little bit.
For instance, there’s the Friends mode which lets you challenge your Facebook friends to regular games. This will include dribbling down the court, taking shots, attempting to block and basically anything else you might find in a regular basketball video game.
There’s also Quick Match mode, Events mode, and Trophy mode. If you want the most casual of the casual, Quick Match is the way to go. This is sort of like a training mode in that it will let you practice your shots and other skills.
You get full team and player customization options, and there’s even a chance to win some in-game rewards if you play through the Events mode.
World Basketball King
- Price: Free
- In-game purchases: Yes
- Download: Google Play
Do you remember those basketball games they have at arcades like Dave and Busters? Where you have a set amount of time to shoot and make as many baskets as you can? This game looks and feels kind of like that.
It even features a realistic physics engine to make things more life-like. So if your shot is off by any margin there is a chance you’ll miss. That should make things much more interesting, and less likely to get boring because you’re always hitting every shot.
The more you play the more you can upgrade different aspects of the game. Such as the balls you use, and even different environments to play in.
The game does support multiplayer so if you’re getting a little bored playing by yourself you can venture into this mode. The one thing to keep in mind is that this is all there is for this game.
It’s just shooting baskets to see how high your score can go. And that’s the beauty of it. It’s a simple approach to a fairly complex and competitive sport. Perfect for any downtime if you only have a little of it to spare.
Five Hoops
- Price: Free
- In-game purchases: Yes
- Download: Google Play
This basketball game has a little more flair than the last game. It’s essentially the same kind of gameplay as it’s just shooting baskets, but you have a little more to get in your way of success.
You play with other people around so there’s a chance that your ball could hit theirs and miss the basket. Or you could time the shots wrong and hit the obstacles like the sign with a giant X on it that will spin around the basket to throw you off.
There are some fun elements to enjoy here too. Such as the unlockable outfits for your characters, as well as new balls and new locations to play on. The more you play the more you’ll be able to unlock.
There are leaderboards to compete in and other players from around the world to play against. So if you fancy yourself a god among mortal human beings in this game, see how well you stack up against other top players.
Blocky Basketball
- Price: Free
- In-game purchases: Yes
- Download: Google Play
This comes from the same development studio that made Blocky Soccer, so you can expect some decent quality in this one and some lovely retro-inspired blocky graphics to give the game a niche that other games on this list don’t have.
This also isn’t just a basket shooting game, and instead utilizes easy swipe controls to move down the court and score. You can even pass the ball to your teammates and dunk the ball if you feel like being flashy.
Just like in Blocky Soccer there are also a ton of different character costume unlocks. From gorillas to sea captains you name it this game has it all. Or so it feels. Because there’s over 65 characters to acquire for your next game on the court.
Overall it’s a well-rounded basketball game that gives you a little of everything without being too complex. It’s nowhere near as in-depth as games like NBA 2K, but it isn’t quite as simple as something like World Basketball King. This is a hidden gem indeed, and one of the best casual basketball games you’ll find on Google Play.
Ketchapp Basketball
- Price: Free
- In-game purchases: Yes
- Download: Google Play
Rounding out this list is Ketchapp Basketball, another shooting game that has simple controls and mechanics that are really easy for just about anyone to get used to. But still a little challenging to master.
As this is just a basket shooting game you can expect what you would think in terms of gameplay. You flick the ball up to try and make your shots, but there are some good levels of variety here.
For one, the basket can begin moving up and down or from side to side to make things more difficult for you. You also sort of have trick shots that you will end up needing to make from time to time. There are four different modes to play through, and you can play solo or compete with other players from around the globe.
There are no costumes to unlock for characters here but you can acquire new balls. You can unlock new balls by acquiring more stars, which you get from playing and completing stages and racking up more points.
This is nearly as simple as they come, so if you just want something simple, but still has to do with basketball, this or any of the other games on this list should suffice.
