It seems like Samsung is planning on re-launching the original Galaxy Fold, kind of. The Galaxy Fold Special Edition is allegedly coming in July, and it will cost around $1,099.
This information comes from Ross Young, a well-known display analyst. He usually shares only display-related information, but it seems like some other information came to his attention.
In any case, he says that Samsung is planning to clear out the inventory before the Galaxy Fold 2 arrives, which is why the Galaxy Fold Special Edition is coming our way.
The Galaxy Fold Special Edition coming in July, only around 55,000 units will be available
He also noted that this will be a limited edition product. Around 55,000 units of the Galaxy Fold Special Edition will be available, on a global scale. Which also suggests that Samsung is clearing out the remaining inventory.
Considering that this phone will cost $1,099, many people may be interested in it. It will not be a cheap phone, by any means, but considering the price tag of the original Galaxy Fold, this may be a good option for some.
The Galaxy Fold Special Edition will look exactly like the original Galaxy Fold, notes Ross Young. We don’t have any information on its specs, but it’s possible it will share many of those with the original Galaxy Fold as well.
The Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to arrive in August. So this device will launch about a month before the second-gen Galaxy Fold product.
The Galaxy Fold 2 will launch alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series
The Galaxy Fold 2 will arrive alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series, if rumors are to be believed. Some information about that phone surfaced as well, as it seems like it will look like a hybrid between the original Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Flip, and Galaxy S20+.
The device will have the Galaxy Fold’s form factor. It will have a similar display camera hole as the Galaxy Z Flip, and similar thin bezels. The camera setup on the back should be taken from the Galaxy S20+.
These are all just rumors at this point. Not a single reliable source leaked the phone’s design thus far, so we’ll have to wait to be sure. Rumors are also suggesting that the outer display will offer considerably thinner bezels.
The original Galaxy Fold not only offered a really small outer display with thick bezels, but it also had a huge display notch on the inner display. That device also did not include a UTG glass, while the second-gen model probably will.
The Galaxy Fold 2 will also ship with the S Pen, if rumors are to be believed. It seems like Samsung is planning to offer some Note series features on this foldable device.
