The Google Pixel 4a wallpapers have just leaked out, and it shows how Google has attempted to hide the rumored hole-punch on the device.
This isn’t new, Google isn’t the first one to try and hide the hole-punch, but it is the latest to do it. These wallpapers cleverly hide it quite well actually. These wallpapers from the Pixel 4a are pretty unique, even for Google.
OEMs try to hide the notch and the hole punch in their displays all types of ways. Apple was actually the first to do it, by using the globe and making the background black. So that you don’t really see the notch. Even moreso on the iPhone X since it was using an OLED display, so the blacks were actually black. And now, Google is joining in on the fun.

Pixel 4a is expected to be announced on June 3
Google is expected to announce the Pixel 4a during the Android 11 Beta Launch Show on June 3. Which is a live stream to kick off the Android 11 Beta. Typically this is done at Google I/O but with life being cancelled this year, Google had to make some other changes and plans for it. And many are expecting the Pixel 4a to be announced during this live stream. Of course, that is just a rumor right now.
The Pixel 4a is expected to be a smaller device, with a 5.81-inch FHD+ OLED display at the usual 60Hz. It is going to be powered by the Snapdragon 730 chipset, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage on-board. The RAM and storage match the Pixel 4 series too.
It does have a somewhat small battery, coming in at 3080mAh. But with the lower-resolution and lower-refresh rate display, and the Snapdragon 730 chipset inside, it should last a full day with ease.
Thankfully, Google is not using the Snapdragon 765, so this won’t be a 5G device. Which would push up the price of the Pixel 4a by at least $100. And that would make it still impressive, but not as impressive as it is going to be at $399. Since it’ll have the same camera as the much more expensive Pixel 4 series smartphones.
The Pixel 4a should be available shortly after it is announced on June 3, and we expect it to go head-to-head with the iPhone SE (2020), which is at the same $399.
