Huawei has announced two new Y series smartphones, the Huawei Y8s and Huawei Y9s. These two phones did leak several times thus far, and the information is now official.
Now, the two devices are quite different in terms of both looks and specifications. We’ll talk about their design first, and then share more spec info, though we’ll do that for each phone, separately.
Both devices include fairly thin bezels, though only the Huawei Y8s includes a display notch. As you can see, it has a display notch similar to the OnePlus 6. The Huawei Y9s, on the other hand, includes a pop-up selfie camera.
The bottom bezel is the thickest on both phones, though it’s not that thick. The power / lock, volume up, and volume up buttons sit on the right-hand side of both phones. In the case of the Huawei Y9s, the power / lock key also doubles as a fingerprint scanner.
Both phones include Huawei’s branding on the back, and more than one camera. The Huawei Y8s includes two cameras, which are vertically-aligned, and placed in the top-left corner of its back.
The Huawei Y9s, on the other hand, comes with three cameras, and they’re placed in the same spot as on the Huawei Y8s. The camera module does look considerably different, though.
Huawei Y8s specifications
The Huawei Y8s features a 6.5-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) IPS display. The phone is fueled by the Kirin 710 64-bit octa-core processor, and comes with 4GB of RAM.
The device is also equipped with 64GB / 128GB of internal storage, and that storage is expandable up to 512GB. Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the device, along with EMUI 9.1.
Two SIM card slots are included inside of this phone, while the same goes for a 4,000mAh battery. That battery supports 10W charging, by the way. A 3.5mm headphone jack is included here, and so is a micro USB port, unfortunately.
The device supports 4G LTE connectivity, and Bluetooth 4.2 LE. A 48-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture) is aided by a 2-megapixel depth camera (f/2.4 aperture). On the front, you’ll find 8-megapixel (f/2.0 aperture) and 2-megapixel (f/2.4 aperture) cameras.
This phone measures 162.4 x 77.1 x 8.13mm, and weighs 180 grams. It comes in Emerald Green and Midnight Black color options. We still do not know how much will it cost.

A 4,000mAh battery is included inside of this phone, along with 10W wired charging. A 48-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture) sits on the back of the device.
