Google is pretty bad at keeping its products a secret. In the past, several Pixel devices were fully revealed before their official launches. In 2020, we have already seen several leaks about the upcoming Pixel 4a smartphones. Now, the latest leak confirms the presence of the Pixel 4a XL smartphone.
The pictures of the Pixel 4a retail boxes from a production facility in Vietnam have leaked online. According to a Vietnamese website, the Pixel 4a is the first Google smartphone to be manufactured in Vietnam. Google has reportedly moved production from Taiwan to the booming Southeast Asian country.
Pixel 4a XL to accompany smaller Pixel 4a
The pictures were taken at a production facility located in Vinh Phuc. It was also mentioned that the Apple iPads were assembled at the same facility. As per the leak, the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a XL are codenamed as Sunfish and Blemble (could be Bramble) respectively. Both Pixel smartphones are currently in the trial production phase with an output of just a few hundred units per week.
The Pixel 4a is said to be made from a grainy plastic material and will use plastic buttons to keep prices low. As per the leaks, the Pixel 4a is expected to launch at $349. It will be $50 cheaper than the new Apple iPhone SE. Google is rumored to launch these new Pixel smartphones in the first week of June. Earlier leaks of the Pixel 4a have confirmed some key specifications.
Is this the 1st 5G smartphone from Google?
It sports a 5.81-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and hole-punch cut-out for the front camera. The smaller Pixel 4a packs a Snapdragon 730 Mobile Platform coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. However, the Pixel 4a XL with the Snapdragon 765 Mobile Platform might support 5G as well.
Unlike the bigger Pixel 4a XL, the Pixel 4a will settle for a single rear camera. It will feature a 12.2MP camera on the rear with LED flash and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. The device will have a 3,080mAh non-removable battery. While there will be no wireless charging, it will support 18W PD fast charging.
The device will also come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Based on the leaks, the Pixel 4a will be available in Black, White, and Blue color options. In the coming days, we should be seeing more information leaking about the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a XL smartphones.
