Samsung is rumored to be working on a new Galaxy Watch. Last month, China’s CMIIT database revealed two new Samsung smartwatches with the model numbers SM-R840/845 and SM-R850/855. According to SamMobile, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch will be using the Titanium casing for the very first time.
Currently, Samsung smartwatches only come in aluminum and stainless steel variants. While conventional watches have been using Titanium for a long time, not many companies have used it for smartwatches. Even the Apple Watch Series 5 is the first watch from Apple to come with a Titanium case.
First Samsung Galaxy Watch to come with Titanium case
Compared to other materials currently used by manufacturers, Titanium is a strong, lightweight and durable metal. Just like Apple, Samsung should also put a coating on the titanium case to prevent staining and yellowing. Using Titanium also substantially increases the pricing of the product.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch in August 2018. Later, the company also launched two more smartwatches called the Galaxy Watch Active and Galaxy Watch Active 2. As of now, there is no information on whether the upcoming Samsung smartwatch will be the Galaxy Watch 2 or Galaxy Watch Active 3.
Upcoming Galaxy Watch to bring back the rotating bezel
With the upcoming Galaxy Watch, Samsung will bring back one of its fan-favorite features. It is said to feature the proprietary rotating bezel as seen on the original Galaxy Watch.
While the physical rotating bezel is omitted from the Galaxy Watch Active, it came back in a digital avatar with the Galaxy Watch Active 2.
Now, the upcoming Galaxy Watch will once again feature a rotating bezel to make navigating through the UI a lot easier.
While there is no confirmation, it could potentially be the successor to the Galaxy Watch. There is not much information available about the upcoming smartwatch from Samsung.
The company is rumored to offer 8GB of internal storage across the lineup. Also, it will be available in both cellular and Wi-Fi variants.
Samsung will also use a slightly larger 330mAh battery. The different model numbers also hint the new Galaxy Watch will come in two different sizes.
The current Galaxy Watch Active 2 comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes. While the 40mm Galaxy Watch Active 2 retails from $279.99, the bigger 44mm variants start at $299.99.
More recently, the company also launched the Galaxy Watch Active 2 Golf Edition catering to just golfers. It starts at $329.99 and comes only in the Wi-Fi variant.
