A new beta update is now arriving to the OnePlus 5 & 5T, bringing camera and system stability improvements. There are some other fixes and optimizations included in this update as well.
New beta update brings improved animations, signal & camera to the OnePlus 5 series
This is the third Android 10-based OxygenOS beta update for the two devices. Stable Android 10 update is coming soon, as OnePlus usually releases three or four Open Beta updates before a stable one arrives.
In any case, this update is marked as OxygenOS Open Beta 3 for both devices. This beta update improves the stability of the camera on the OnePlus 7 series.
System stability has been improved as well, in general, while a number of smaller bugs have been squashed. The company has also optimized the system icons in the UI of call recording.
In addition to that, start-up animations have been optimized, mobile signal, and so on. It seems like OnePlus did its best to polish everything here before pushing out a stable build.
There was a bug in the previous version where you could not access the audio tuner after connecting headphones. Well, that is no longer an issue here.
The company also fixed the issue with unwanted muting of calls in Google Duo. The bug with sending and receiving messages while register or activating UPI accounts has also been fixed.
Some connection issues have also been fixed
The Wi-Fi transfer speed display in Network details has been optimized, while Airtel WoWifi has been disabled. That last entry is not a global change, but it’s worth noting none the less.
As per usual, the update is already rolling out OTA (over the air). Do note that you need to already be running beta software in order to get this update that way.
If you’re running stable software, you can switch to the beta channel without a problem. All you have to do is download the right update package, and install it on your phone, from your phone’s Settings app.
Do note that you will not lose any data if you do so. You will lose all data when you end up returning to the stable channel, though. For that reason alone, this is not a worthy move to the vast majority of people.
A stable Android 10 build for the OnePlus 5 and 5T is close. That update is expected to arrive in a couple of weeks at the latest. Chances are that the next update will be a stable one, or the one after it. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you in the loop.
