[UPDATE: OnePlus 8 Too] OxygenOS 10.5.8 For The OnePlus 8 Pro Improves Camera, Security & More

UPDATE: In addition to the OnePlus 8 Pro, this update is rolling out to the OnePlus 8 as well.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE:OnePlus has started rolling out a new stable update for the OnePlus 8 Pro, OxygenOS 10.5.8. This update brings some further camera improvements, a new security patch, and more.

Let’s start from the top, shall we. In terms of ‘System’ improvements, you’ll see an optimized touch and interaction experience once you install this update.

OxygenOS 10.5.8 lands on the OnePlus 8 Pro to improve power consumption, camera, and more

OxygenOS 10.5.8 also improves power consumption, and the video playing effect when in low brightness. System stability has been improved in general, and some random bugs have been fixed as well.

This update brings a new security patch to the OnePlus 8 Pro, an Android Security Patch for April 2020. Bluetooth stability has been improved as well, and compatibility of Bluetooth connection.

OnePlus further optimized the camera experience on the OnePlus 8 Pro with OxygenOS 10.5.8. It optimized the HDR video effect. On top of that, the shooting experience with the ‘Camera’ app has been improved, and stability overall.

In terms of ‘Network’ changes, OxygenOS 10.5.8 brings improved performance and stability of Wi-Fi transfer. The stability of communication features has been improved, and network latency has been optimized for online games. 5G has been enabled for Telia Norway as well, though that’s a Norway-only change.

That is pretty much it as far as the changelog is concerned. This is just one of many updates for the OnePlus 8 Pro that the company released since the phone’s arrival.

OnePlus is obviously trying to optimize its new flagship to the best of its ability as soon as possible. That’s not to say it’s not optimized already, but there’s always something that can be improved.

This is an incremental rollout, as per usual

This is an incremental rollout, by the way, as OnePlus’ updates usually are. The update will hit a small percentage of users today, and will roll out to more of them in the coming days.

If everything goes according to plan, every OnePlus 8 Pro owner in EU, India, and the US will have this update within a week. There is always a chance something will go wrong, and OnePlus will be forced to halt the update, though that’s unlikely.

The OnePlus 8 also received quite a few updates thus far. Truth be said, not as much as the ‘Pro’ model, but OnePlus is keeping both phones update. That was to be expected, as they launched at the same time.

The ‘Pro’ unit offers considerably more this time around. It comes with a more compelling camera setup, faster RAM, better display with higher refresh rate, and more.
