Redmi has announced a new smartphone, the Redmi K30i 5G. This handset not only brings 5G connectivity for less than $300, but it also packs in a 120Hz refresh rate display.
That’s not all, though, this phone also includes an extremely capable processor, and much more. We’ll talk about its specifications in a second, let’s first check out its design.
The Redmi K30i includes thin bezels, pill-shaped camera hole
As you can see, the Redmi K30i brings extremely thin bezels. It does include a display camera hole in the top-right corner, though. That is a pill-shaped hole, and it’s quite small, actually. It does host two cameras.
The power / lock button is located on the right-hand side of this phone, and it doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The volume up and down buttons sit right above that fingerprint scanner.
The phone includes a flat display, by the way. There are four vertically-aligned cameras included on the back of this phone. Right below those cameras, you’ll notice a dual-LED flash, and Redmi ‘s logo is also placed back there.
The device features a 6.67-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) IPS LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate. That display does support HDR10 content, and it is protected by the Gorilla Glass 5.
The Snapdragon 765G is included, along with a 4,500mAh battery
The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 765G 64-bit octa-core processor. That is one of Qualcomm’s best mid-range processors, and the phone does support 5G connectivity.
Android 10 comes pre-installed on the Redmi K30i 5G, along with MIUI 11. The device packs in 6GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable internal storage. A 4,500mAh battery is also included in this package. The phone does support fast charging, 30W fast wired charging, to be exact. Wireless charging is not supported here.
Redmi has opted to include a 3.5mm headphone jack on this handset. The device’s main camera on the back packs in a 48-megapixel sensor (f/1.9 aperture, 0.8um pixel size, PDAF). An 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera (1.12um pixel size, 120-degree FoV) is also included, as is a 2-megapixel macro camera (f/2.4 aperture). A 2-megapixel depth camera (f/2.4 aperture) can also be found there.
A 20-megapixel selfie camera (f/2.2 aperture, 27mm lens, 0.8um pixel size) is backed by a 2-megapixel depth camera (f/2.4 aperture, 1.75um pixel size).
This phone brings two SIM card slots, two nano SIM card slots. The phone measures 165.3 x 76.6 x 8.8mm, and it weighs 208 grams. The device comes in Blue, Red, Purple, and White color options.
The device comes in a single configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and it will go on sale starting on June 7. The device is priced at CNY1,899 ($266), which makes it extremely affordable for a 5G handset.
