A mysterious Motorola smartphone recently picked up the certification from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with the model number XT2075-3. Now, fresh information shared by reliable tipster Ishan Agarwal suggests that the device will launch as the Motorola Edge Lite soon.
Not much is known about this handset yet. However, the tipster said that it is a mid-range smartphone featuring a Qualcomm chipset, either the Snapdragon 730G or the 765G. And as per the FCC listing, this phone comes with 5G connectivity. So it should get the Snapdragon 765G SoC.
Motorola Edge Lite spotted on FCC, some details revealed
The FCC certification reveals that the Motorola Edge Lite, if that’s what the company plans to call this phone, will feature dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi 802.11a/g/n/ac, NFC, FM Radio, and Bluetooth BR/EDR/LE (Basic Rate/Enhanced Data Rate/Low Energy). The handset also supports Galileo, GLONASS, and GPS navigation systems as well.
The FCC documents mention the battery model number for this phone as LZ50, which has a rated capacity of 4,700mAh. This handset also comes with a Micro SD card slot and will run Android 10 out of the box.
The Motorola Edge Lite should be available in the US and Europe, at least. A listing on a Spanish e-commerce website suggests that it’ll come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage capacity.
It may come in multiple memory configurations, though. The phone will be available with dual-SIM support, at least in some markets.
However, although the portal lists the device with the same model number XT2075-3, it’s calling it Motorola 5G Plus. So the legitimacy of this listing is questionable. More details about this phone should pop-up on the internet in the coming days as Motorola prepares for its introduction.
Motorola Edge Lite will join Edge and Edge+
Motorola introduced the Edge series of smartphones in April this year. The Lenovo-owned company launched the flagship-grade Motorola Edge+ and a slightly less expensive Motorola Edge under the new series.
Both the handsets are 5G-capable but are powered by two different Qualcomm processors. The Edge+ gets the more powerful Snapdragon 865 while its cheaper sibling gets the Snapdragon 765 chipset. Now, the ‘Lite’ version will likely get the latter as well.
Key features of the Motorola Edge+ include up to 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging, 108-megapixel triple camera setup, and a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED curved display with a 90Hz refresh rate.
The vanilla Motorola Edge also gets the same display panel. However, it tops up at 6GB of RAM, 128 of storage, and 64-megapixel triple camera setup.
It also gets a smaller, 4,500mAh battery with 18W fast wired charging but no wireless charging. The Edge Lite will likely be a trimmed-down version of this phone.
