Detailed Galaxy Fold 2 Display Info Appears In Infographic

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 display info has just surfaced in an infographic. This infographic appeared in South Korea from a reputable source (ET News), but take it with a grain of salt regardless.

This information is a bit different than what Ross Young reported back in April. Ross Young is a well-known display analyst, so chances are he’s right. There’s always a chance something changed in the meantime, though, of course.

The Galaxy Fold 2 infographic shares the phone’s display information

In any case, let’s talk about this infographic, shall we. It claims that both the outer and inner displays of the Galaxy Fold 2 will be larger than the ones on its predecessor. That was to be expected.

According to the infographic, the Galaxy Fold 2 will feature a 7.7-inch inner display. That display will support 120Hz refresh rate, by the way. In terms of resolution, we’re looking at 2213 x 1689 here.

That results in an aspect ratio of 11.8:9. That display will be protected by UTG (Ultra Thin Glass), by the way, same as the Galaxy Z Flip’s panel. A plastic layer will still be placed above it, though.

Now, when it comes to the outer display, this infographic claims we’re looking at a 6.23-inch panel. That display will be a lot larger than the one on the original Fold, as that phone includes a 4.6-inch display.

That is not surprising, as the bezels on this panel will be a lot thinner. The Galaxy Fold’s bezels were huge, on the outer display. In any case, the phone’s outer display will retain a 60Hz refresh rate.

We’re looking at a resolution of 2267 x 819 here, in case you were wondering. That translates to a 24:9.9 aspect ratio. Both of these displays will be LTPS panels, not LTPO as the Galaxy Note 20+ and Ultra displays are expected to be.

Samsung seems to be aiming to sell 3 million Galaxy Fold 2 units by the end of 2020

This infographic also claims that the company is planning to manufacture 300,000 Galaxy Fold 2 units at first, and sell 3 million by the end of 2020. It also shows what the competition will be. It mentions the Huawei Mate X2, next-gen Motorola Razr, and so on.

As already mentioned, the information that Ross Young provided was a bit different. He claimed that the phone will feature a 7.59-inch (2213 x 1689) LTPO display on the inside. So, even though the resolution is the same, the display size is different to the one mentioned in the infographic.

The outer display, on the other hand, seems to be identical to the one mentioned in the infographic. Even the refresh rate fits. So, it remains to be seen whose information is accurate.

The Galaxy Fold 2 will become official in August. The device is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series, and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. All of those devices are rumored to arrive in August, but Samsung still did not confirm anything.
