Certification Confirms 5G Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

After many weeks and months of rumors, confirmation has been found that the Samsung 5G Galaxy Z Flip is coming. XDA has found a certification filing by Samsung which confirms the rumors of a 5G successor to the Galaxy Z Flip.

Rumors surrounding the 5G model have been rife with just reports of its August release surfacing recently.

This follows on from the Galaxy Z Flip’s announcement in February. Ever since then a 5G successor has been on the tip of many’s tongues with excitement and anticipation building.

What We Now Know

The rumors of a 5G successor started pretty much in February. When it was confirmed that the Galaxy Z Flip did not support 5G this sparked the idea that Samsung was working on something.

Rumors of the Samsung 5G Galaxy Z Flip really gained traction after the company began development of a model number “SM-F707B”. Since the Galaxy Z Flip was given the model number “SM-F700”, it was believed “SM-F707B” would be the successor.

The fairly strong logic behind this belief as “SM-F” has been used for Samsung foldable devices up until now.

The “B” in “SM-F707B” was also believed to signify that this would be a 5G model. This is because previously, Samsung have used the letter in model names with 5G support.

Successor to Galaxy Z Flip Confirmed

However, with just vague attempts to decode model names, these could only ever be put down as rumors. Now though, almost total confirmation has been found. The “SM-F707B” model name has been spotted in a certification filing online with the marketing name.

The commercial name given in the filing is the Samsung Z Flip 5G so this link is all but a certainty now. The online certification filing has, in the past, helped XDA confirm other similar things.

These include confirming that the OPPO Find X2 Neo is the same device as the Chinese Reno3 Pro. Therefore they are very confident that his finding will prove to be correct.

By this point, many had become reasonably confident that this link was correct. As mentioned, Samsung’s past form in model names gave a fairly good indication of what this new development would be.

It is expected that this will all be announced at the Samsung Unpacked event in August. This near-total confirmation of the 5G successor will be of great excitement to many. However, we will have to wait until then for official confirmation.
