Shopping Apps See Historic 40% Increase In Purchase Rates

People have been buying a lot of stuff using shopping apps it seems, as purchase rates increased 40-percent. This information comes from Liftoff, a mobile app marketing and retargeting company.

The company has released its annual report on the mobile app commerce, in partnership with Adjust. This report identifies North America (NAR) as the mobile shopping leader. Asia-Pacific region (APAC), on the other hand, struggled with shopping fatigue.

Shopping apps purchase rates have skyrocketed in North America

The engagement has surged 40-percent, while 14.7-percent purchase rates tower over last year’s 10.5-percent. If you take the last two years into consideration, the purchase engagement increased by 110-percent.

Now, the COVID-19 outbreak definitely had something to do with this. People have been forced to stay home and use online shopping way more. Considering that pretty much everyone has a smartphone these days, buying from an app is something people are used to.

Liftoff and Adjust analyzed more than 53 billion ad impressions across 10 million installs and 2 million first-time events between April 2019 and April 2020 for this report.

So, that’s quite a large database to work with, isn’t it. Things are getting back to normal in some parts of the works, but the health crisis is far from over.

That may indicate that we’ll see a further increase in purchase rates when it comes to shopping apps this year. It will be interesting to see how things are at the end of 2020, that’s for sure.

It’s quite interesting that North America has seen such a major increase in purchase rates, compared to the APAC region. Truth be said, the APAC region has seen a similar trend last year.

Conversion rates are up more than 4x in the NAR region

Therefore, Liftoff seems to things that shopping fatigue took place. Costs-per-first-purchase in NAR are down 4x (to $14.85), which is staggering, to say the least.

Conversion rates, on the other hand, are up more than 4x. They are also 6x higher than that of APAC (27.6-percent compared to APAC’s 4.7-percent).

APAC costs have nearly doubled in the past year, up to $54.90, says Liftoff. The purchase rates in that region are less than half that of last year.

As you can see, trends have changed quite a bit since last year. NAR has come out on top when it comes to purchase rates, and the difference is huge compared to APAC.
