A well-known display analyst has decided to set the record straight regarding Samsung’s upcoming foldable. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be announced at the ‘Unpacked’ event after all.
The company has scheduled its ‘Unpacked’ event for August 5. That event has been primarily scheduled for the Galaxy Note 20 series, but this time around, Samsung will announce a lot of goodies during it.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is one of the devices that will be announced at the ‘Unpacked’ event
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is one of the devices Samsung was rumored to announce, but Max Weinbach suggested that might not happen. Well, Ross Young disagrees.
Mr. Young went to Twitter to say that Samsung does plan to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 2 at ‘Unpacked’. Mr. Weinbach suggested that the company will mention it in some capacity, but not announce it.
Well, it seems like it’s happening. Ice Universe, another tipster, went to Twitter to confirm what Ross Young said, pretty much. He also said that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will launch on August 5.
Ice Universe went a step further, and told everyone the phone will become available for purchase on September 20, in China. Ross Young hinted that the device may not ship until as late as October. That same info was shared by Max Weinbach as well.
Well, as things look at the moment, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 may go on sale in China in late September, while global markets may get it a couple of weeks after that, at least based on this information.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is easily one of the most anticipated phones of the year, and Ross Young decided to reconfirm some specs as well. He says that the phone will include a 7.59-inch main panel as he reported back in April, not a 7.7-inch one like some rumors are claiming.
The device will feature a 7.59-inch main display with 120Hz refresh rate
The resolution of that display will be 2213 x 1689, and it will ship with a DPI of 372. That display will offer 120Hz refresh rate, and we’re looking at an LTPO panel here.
In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Note 20 series, Samsung is expected to announce several more devices. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G will launch during that event, and maybe even Samsung’s tablets and a smartwatch.
The Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ flagship tablets and the Galaxy Watch 3 smartwatch were rumored to arrive in July. That seems less and less likely, so it’s possible Samsung will launch all that on August 5.
If that happens, the company will announce at least seven flagship-grade devices, which is a lot. Many people would say this is overkill for a single event, and that’s hard to disagree with. We’ll see what’ll happen, stay tuned.
