Disk cleanups could easily belong in the top five most frequently performed computer maintenance tasks.
Many PC users have had the experience of checking different folders on their computer to see if the files stored in them were really necessary or important. Not only can it take a lot of time and effort to do this, but also, at times, it may not be so clear if some files are needed for the normal functioning of certain programs or even your entire system.
So how do you go about cleaning up your drive not only quickly and efficiently, while also being sure that the process won’t fire back, causing malfunctions on your device?
One of the most secure options is using special software programs that are designed specifically for this purpose, such as Outbyte PC Repair. With Outbyte, you will be able to perform regular system cleanups and be sure that the procedure is absolutely safe for your PC.
Below, we will look into three different ways how Outbyte PC Repair has helped me and can help others free up space on their computer drive.
1. Run the scan to identify junk files
After you download the program from the official Outbyte website and launch it, a scan of your PC will be initiated. This scan goes over many different categories, including performance, app crashes, privacy, and so on. As at the moment we are interested in the disk cleanup, we can head directly to the Disk Space section within the scan results list.
As you can see, the program was able to find around 1.3 GB of junk on my PC. The items here are divided into 4 different categories, as shown above. If you want to get some additional info and actually see which files the program identified as unused or temporary, you can do it by simply clicking on Details. Once you do so, you will be provided with a list of all the items from each category (see example below).
To get rid of the unnecessary files, you can just click Activate & Repair if it is your first time using the program. After that, you will be prompted to register an account and get an activation key for the trial version of the program. Once the repair is finished, your computer should be free from junk files and have more space available on its drive.
2. Check for app leftovers
It may come as a surprise, but the truth is that not all apps may be completely removed from your PC after you uninstall them. Some of them leave leftovers that can pile up and take up space on your computer. Outbyte comes with a feature designed for detecting such files and removing them once and for all.
The app leftovers feature can be accessed via Power Tools as part of the Uninstaller.
The Outbyte program managed to find quite a few apps that were not completely removed from my PC, as you can see below. All of them combined were taking up a little more than 260MB of space on my drive.
I decided to remove all of them since those were not of any use to me and were just occupying space with no particular purpose.
3. Uninstall the software you don’t need
Sometimes we may install programs we won’t really be using. Or it may happen that previously useful programs became obsolete or simply unneeded. The last way of freeing up disk space with Outbyte PC Repair is removing the apps you don’t need from your computer.
You can access the full list of programs installed on your PC from the Uninstaller Power Tool screen. As I was looking into the apps that I had on my PC I was able to spot a couple of programs that I didn’t really need and decided to uninstall them.
In case if there will be any files left after deleting the programs you will be able to see and remove those by using the app leftovers feature as described above.
Conclusion
Having used other similar programs like CCleaner and Auslogics in the past, I can confidently say that the Outbyte program was also able to deliver decent results when used for disk decluttering.
Outbyte PC Repair helped me free up a little more than 2GB of space on my PC. While this is not a huge amount, it is enough to store a medium-quality movie or a few episodes of your favorite TV show. Also, the tool can be quite useful in situations when you are running out of space on your system and need to quickly clean up your drive.
In conclusion, if you are searching for a straightforward tool that can help you declutter your system safely and quickly, this could be the choice for you.
