POCO has announced its new smartphone in India, the POCO M2 Pro. This device is basically a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro, which is not exactly surprising. POCO is Xiaomi’s subsidiary, even though it functions separately.
The phone is made out of metal and glass, and it has relatively thin bezels, especially considering its price tag. It sports a display camera hole, which is centered. Its bottom bezel is a bit thicker than the side and top ones.
POCO’s branding is included on the back of the device, as are four cameras. Those four cameras are centered in the upper portion of the phone’s back. An LED flash sits right below them.
The phone features a flat display, while it does include a fingerprint scanner as well. It sports a side-facing fingerprint scanner, above which you’ll notice volume up and down buttons.
The POCO M2 Pro does not have the same spec sheet as the Redmi Note 9 Pro, but it’s similar
Now, it is worth noting that this phone does offer slightly different specs than the Redmi Note 9 Pro. So, it’s not a complete copy of Xiaomi’s smartphone, even though it looks like it.
The POCO M2 Pro features a 6.67-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) LCD DotDisplay. That display is protected by a sheet of Gorilla Glass 5. The Snapdragon 720G fuels this phone. The device does not support 5G.
The POCO M2 Pro includes 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM an dit comes in both 64GB and 128GB storage (UFS 2.1) options. You can expand that storage up to 256GB via a microSD card.
The phone includes two SIM card slots (2x nano SIM), and a separate microSD card slot. Android 10 comes pre-installed on the device, along with MIUI 11.
A 48-megapixel main camera (Samsung’s ISOCELL GM2 sensor, f/1.79 aperture, PDAF, EIS, 0.8um pixel size) is backed by an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera (119-degree FoV, EIS). A 5-megapixel macro camera (2cm) is also included on the back, as is a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
A 16-megapixel camera can be found on the front side of the device. The POCO M2 Pro also includes an infrared sensor, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The device is P2i coated, which means it’s splash resistant.
A large battery pack is also included
A 5,000mAh battery is also included in the mix, and it supports 33W fast charging. The phone does offer Bluetooth 5, while it measures 165.75 x 76.68 x 8.8mm, and weighs 209 grams.
The POCO M2 Pro comes in ‘Out of the Blue’, ‘Green and Greener’, and ‘Two Shades of Black’ color options. Its pricing starts at Rs. 13,999 ($187) in India, by the way.
