The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is right around the corner, and it will come with a new display feature. Well, a new display feature when it comes to Samsung’s smartphones, at the very least.
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will be able to utilize its QHD+ display and 120hz refresh rate at the same time. Now, this solution is only half-baked still, it seems, as you won’t be able to force this at all times.
New feature will allow you to use the full potential of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra display
Sounds confusing? Well, it’s not, not really. Samsung will add an adaptive option for the QHD+ display resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This means that the phone will decide when to use QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate at the same time.
In other times, it will default to fullHD+ resolution, and quite probably 60Hz as well. This still puts the company behind some other OEMs, who have been letting their users to force both QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, and use them at the same time.
Samsung did not confirm this, by the way, but a well-known tipster did. This information comes from Ice Universe, a well-known tipster. He shared the information via Twitter, along with an image of the option.
The latest firmware Galaxy Note20 Ultra has added an adaptive 120Hz option. But there is still no QHD+120Hz option. pic.twitter.com/VOf9Y5LoJW

The image he shared seems to be from the Chinese version of the software. Still, this feature should be available in the global variant as well, once the phone becomes available.
Truth be said, this is not something regular users will notice, nor care about, but tech enthusiasts sure will. In fact, having the adaptive option is definitely the better choice for most people.
It’s almost impossible to see the difference between the fullHD+ and QHD+ resolution on Samsung’s newest displays. In terms of refresh rate, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will utilize 120Hz when necessary. In other words, when you can see the difference.
The device will launch on August 5
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will become official on August 5. The company will announce its Galaxy Note 20 series on that date, along with a number of other high-end devices.
The company is planning to introduce the Galaxy Fold 2 on August 5, along with the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ may also arrive on that date, and the same goes for the Galaxy Watch 3.
The two tablets and the smartwatch may launch sooner than that, but that’s not as likely at this point. In any case, the company’s upcoming ‘Unpacked’ event will be quite interesting for many reasons.
There you have it. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will have a display feature the Galaxy S20 series did not, and many people will be pleased because of it.
