Unihertz is known for launching smaller Android smartphones. Earlier this year, the company announced a 4-inch rugged smartphone called the Atom XL. It has now started a new crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for the world’s smallest Android 10 4G smartphone.
The all-new Jelly 2 is the successor to the original Jelly smartphone launched in 2017. In the world of 6-inch-plus smartphones, Jelly 2 could end up becoming a secondary device, at least for a few.
The world’s smallest Android 10 smartphone comes with a 3-inch display
In terms of hardware, the device packs decent specs for its size. Compared to its successor, the 3-inch display on the Jelly 2 offers a better resolution at 854 by 480 pixels and a relatively higher screen-to-body ratio. There is a 16MP on the rear with an LED flash and an 8MP selfie camera on the front.
The photos from these cameras should look decent on that tiny display. It is also equipped with a 2,000mAh battery that should easily last more than a single day of usage. And most importantly, it runs on Android 10 out of the box.
Apart from the power button and volume rocker, there is an additional hardware button that can be customized for opening a specific app. Moreover, Jelly 2 also supports NFC for making contactless payments.
In terms of performance, it packs a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor coupled with a Mali-G72 GPU. It’s not the latest or greatest chipset, but it should be good enough to offer a seamless experience on this tiny smartphone.

It also includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Additionally, it supports storage expansion using the hybrid SIM-card slot. While it weighs just 110 grams, the phone is still pretty chunky with the thickness being 16.5mm. There’s also a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
Unlike the 2020 smartphone standard, it’s also got a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Just below the rear camera, we can also spot the circular fingerprint scanner. On the connectivity front, it comes with global LTE support and Bluetooth 4.2.
Unihertz has already achieved more than 10x its goal, and the early-bird price of $129 is no longer available. However, interested users can still go with the Kickstarter special pricing of $159, which is still $40 lower than the retail price. The company is charging an additional $20 for the Japanese variant as it also includes support for the FeliCa wallet function.
