Xiaomi had its ecosystem launch event today, where it launched a boat load of new products. This includes two new Scooters, a new pair of truly wireless earbuds, a new fitness band, streaming TV stick, three phones and a gaming monitor. Yeah, Xiaomi had a busy day.
Let’s start with the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick. Something that was leaked pretty extensively, recently. The Mi TV Stick is essentially the Mi Box S, but now in a HDMI Stick. It of course runs on Android TV, so it should offer a pretty good user experience. Plus, loads of Android apps are included. The remote control sort of looks like the old Shield TV remote, and has dedicated buttons for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
The Mi Smart Band 5 looks amazing
Xiaomi is no stranger to fitness bands. It has been making them for years, and they are pretty incredible.
The Mi Smart Band 5 is no exception. It sports a 1.1-inch AMOLED display, and by going AMOLED, it’s going to conserve battery life. It has 14 days of battery life, as expected from Xiaomi.
This fitness band can automatically track 11 different exercises and that includes swimming. Since this is rated for 5ATM, so you can take it in the pool.
Xiaomi also touted that there are 65 different bands available for the Mi Smart Band 5.
Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds 2 Basic
Despite, its long name, the new truly wireless earbuds from Xiaomi are pretty incredible. These sport 20 hours of battery life, that is including the charging case. These will automatically pair with your Xiaomi smartphone, a lot like Pixel Buds do with Pixels.
These also sport 14.2mm drivers inside, giving you some really incredible sound quality from these earbuds. And yes, these look like Airpods, but for most people, that is the only style that can stay in their ears. So we can’t fault Xiaomi for that.
Finally, three new phones
Xiaomi also introduced three Redmi smartphones today. The Redmi 9, Redmi 9C and Redmi 9A.
The Redmi series is the company’s entry-level smartphones, so don’t expect anything too crazy here. But the Redmi 9 sports a MediaTek Helio G80 chipset, up to 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, up to 512GB of storage with dual SIM and micro SD card slots. And there is a massive 5020mAh capacity battery inside. Which can quick charge at 18W over USB-C.
The Redmi 9C sports a 6.53-inch display also with a tear-drop notch. And it has a 5000mAh capacity battery as well. And is powered by the Helio G35 chipset.
Meanwhile the Redmi 9A is essentially the same device, but with an even lower-end chipset, the Helio G25.
Xiaomi also announced a new 34-inch gaming monitor as well as the Mi Electric Scooter 1s and Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2.
