We have got our first look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 in Flex Mode. Thanks to a video from Jimmy is Promo we got an insight into how flex mode will look in Galaxy Z Fold 2 what features it entails.
Details are slowing dripping out about Samsung’s newest device. Features such as its refresh rate and hardware specifications are starting to be known. The device itself will not be cheap, some estimates put it just shy of $3000.
The Z Fold 2 is now just weeks away and we can see Samsung’s marketing campaign revving up. This look at flex mode is just one example of some interesting insight into the new device.
Camera functionality in Flex Mode
One of the first areas flex mode is demonstrated is in the camera functionality. To activate flex mode you have two options. The first is to simply fold the device slightly which will automatically activate it. The second is to tap the icon on the top right corner so you do not have to fold to activate the feature.
Once in flex mode, you will see the gallery on the left screen and the camera on the right-hand screen. This allows you to scroll through your gallery whilst also taking pictures.
Every time you take a photo in flex mode the newly captured image automatically displays on the other side of your screen in the gallery. This allows you to get instant feedback on photos you have taken.
Users can also use flex mode in landscape as well as portrait which is the configuration described above. In this setting, the camera is the top portion of the screen. On the bottom, you have the gallery on the left and the camera functionality on the right.
Flex mode also works in gallery but only in landscape orientation. Here users can scroll across the bottom with the top portion filled by the photos. In this mode, you can also swipe up to see the details of any image without covering the image itself.
Flex Mode also used in messenger
The other area this video demonstrated flex mode was in messages. Flex mode does not automatically operate in the messaging app. However, you can easily activate the split-screen in settings.
This works quite intuitively and has genuine applications. On the left, you see your conversations and on the right, you can be on the inside of a message typing. This means you can jump between conversations really easily and relay information with ease.
If you are using the full screen you can also split the keyboard across the two screens. This may be useful for some that find having the keyboard split between their two hands.
Overall, flex mode looks to have some interesting applications. Nothing groundbreaking that makes it a feature one simply must have. However, the messaging functionality certainly has its applications and we can see how its use in the camera could be useful.
