Inside Of Microsoft Surface Duo Shown Off In Video

We’ve finally got a look at the inside of the Microsoft Surface Duo thanks to a video from CNET. The video demonstrates the paced internals as well as the processors for battery management as reported by Gizmo China.

Microsoft has been working on the Surface Duo for five years now so getting to see the inside is a big step. Recently, we finally found out the release date and the price of the Surface Duo. It will launch in September with a price in excess of $1000.

A recent video has also officially shown off the device. Its quite a hefty watch, lasting over half an hour but does detail almost everything you want to know. Now we’ve also got a better look at the internal workings of the device for those that like a deep dive.

Video gives us a look inside the Surfaced Duo

As mentioned, the 8-minute video allows us to see right inside the device. We can see the battery management processors for its dual battery systems.

The video also found something interesting concerning Microsoft Pen. Although the device supports its use there is in fact nowhere to store it. Potentially a slight flaw in the design of the device but one that was probably unavoidable.

The video shows hinges funnelling several wires to and from both sides of the device. This basically demonstrates the pretty complex circuitry required to get the device working.

You can also see things like the proximity sensors, gyroscopes, and accelerometers. These exist behind both displays on each side.

Interview with Chief Product Officer

The video also includes a short interview with Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer, Panos Panay. He pointed out the challenges in bringing a new type of device to market.

He said, “When a new form factor comes along, it does have to be elegant, or it goes away quick.” Given the surface, Duo is not really a foldable smartphone or a dual display tablet either it does have to work visually to be a commercial success.

From what we can see it looks pretty good and getting an insight into how it is all wired up is always intriguing. The Surface Duo’s release is now less than a month away and there does not look like we are going to get many more surprises from Microsoft.

On the whole, it looks an impressive device. However, how it will perform commercially will be the key to its longevity as a concept.
