Own The Incredible Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition, Under $7,200

Xiaomi has now released a Transparent Edition of its Mi TV LUX OLED and it costs just under $7,200. The company may not be the first to introduce a see-through TV at all. But the announcement does make the company the first in the world to mass-produce transparent television. And it’s packed with features too.

One of the most prominent features of the new television is its custom-built MIUI build for TV. The Android-based OS centers its user interface around a Home page, Settings, and My App. But it’s also designed to take full advantage of the transparent screen. That includes an Always-On display mode that lets users customize the images and text what’s shown when the TV is not in use.

Advanced audio features are packed in as well, complete with support for Dolby Atmos. The AI-powered experience can detect which type of content is on display and adapt the audio to suit, Xiaomi says.

What are the specs with this television?

Now, Xiaomi engineered its Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition to sit on a round speaker base stand with a millimeter-grade finish meant to resemble ‘a compact disc’. The TV itself is only 5.7mm thin, making it a perfect addition to any future-forward entertainment system.

In terms of specifications, Xiaomi says the 55-inch display has a static contrast ratio of 150000:1 and “infinite dynamic contrast ratio.”

That includes leveraging support for 93-percent of the DCI-P3 color spectrum. So this TV can offer vivid and realistic hues across the board, as well as deep, rich blacks. Xiaomi decided to bring that to life with a 10-bit panel rated for displaying 1.07 billion colors. That color spectrum actually goes well beyond what users will be able to perceive.

Beyond color, the refresh rate with this television isn’t at all bad, either. In fact, that’s rated at 120Hz with 120Hz MEMC technology. Response times will be perfect for gamers too, at 1ms according to Xiaomi.

Underpinning all of that and Xiaomi’s AI Master Smart Engine is a custom MediaTek 9650 chipset. That drives over 20 algorithms for optimizing the experience and 5 use-case scenario optimizations.

When will this transparent Xiaomi Mi TV become available?

Unlike some competitors, Xiaomi isn’t making anybody wait for this television to arrive. And it isn’t just for the enterprise space, either. The Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition will officially go on sale starting on the morning of August 16. More directly, at 10:00 AM. Pricing isn’t exorbitant either.

The tech giant says that pricing will be set at 49,999 Chinese Yuan. By current exchange rates, that’s right around $7,198.24.

For the novelty, that’s not all that expensive. Samsung’s 85-inch Class Q900TS Series LED 8K UHD Smart TV costs $9,999.99 from Best Buy. An AI-powered Xiaomi smart TV that’s transparent, at 55-inches, with a wealth of other features, any price under that should be a real bargain.
