Vivaldi is one of the several privacy-focused browsers available for smartphones and desktops. Today, the company has released a new version of its Android app with several improvements. The latest update with version 3.2 is now available for smartphones and tablets running on Android 5 and above.
The Vivaldi browser was first launched in April 2016 exclusively for the desktops. In September 2019, it was made available for Android devices in the form of beta. After several months of testing, it came out of the beta phase in April this year.
Vivaldi Browser on Android gets support for custom ad blocking lists
According to the company, the tracker and ad blocker is the most requested feature when the first beta version was launched on Android. With the latest v3.2 update, the Vivaldi browser will bring blocking lists to the built-in tracker and ad blocker.
The users can enable these lists to block the tracking on those specific websites. Obviously, these pre-loaded lists will limit to popular websites. Moreover, there is also an option to add custom lists for blocking lesser-known sites. The process to add custom lists in the mobile browser remains the same as its desktop version.
Vivaldi will also add country-specific lists to select depending on the user’s region. With the number of web trackers on the rise, the company mentioned that the users are looking to limit unnecessary tracking.
The users can find these lists by going to Privacy > Tracker and Ad Blocking > Manage Tracker Blocking Sources and Manage Ad Blocking Sources. These new changes should further boost the privacy parameters of the Vivaldi browser.
More options moved to the bottom for improving the one-handed operation
Apart from privacy-focused features, the company is bringing in a few UI changes as well. For better one-handed usage, the bottom of the screen now features even more options. The version 3.1 update released in early June included the options for switching between panel functions, tabs, bookmarks, history, and downloads at the bottom.
With the latest update, the users can switch between the open, private, recently closed, and synced tabs from the bottom of the screen. While the dark mode was available for a long time on the Android app, version 3.1 update also made it applicable to the web pages.
Furthermore, Vivaldi also renamed the desktop-style Tab Strip as Tab Bar. Users can head over the Play Store to get their hands on the latest version of the Vivaldi browser.
