OnePlus' OxygenOS 11 Beta Goodness Is Right Around The Corner

OnePlus is one of the very few OEM’s to release the Android 11 Developer Preview. The company is now preparing to release the final developer preview build of Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 on August 10. This is on the same day where OnePlus is also unveiling the Android 11-based HydrogenOS 11 in China.

While the OxygenOS caters to the OnePlus global users, the HydrogenOS is limited to the Chinese market. The OxygenOS 11 preview build will soon go into open beta, once there are no major bugs and known issues left.

OxygenOS 11 Open Beta to roll-out shortly after final developer preview release

With the open beta, more OnePlus users can access the latest version of Android. However, it’s still not advisable to try beta build on anyone’s primary smartphone. As seen with the Android 11 developer preview, the Android 11 open beta could limit to the 2020 flagships — OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones.

As of now, there is no confirmation whether the newly launched OnePlus Nord will be included in the final list or not. If anything to go by the Android 10 release, the Android 11-based Oxygen OS public update might take less than a month to release after Google’s announcement.

Obviously, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will be the first devices to receive the Oxygen 11 public update. However, this will not be the same case for the users who brought their OnePlus smartphone from carriers like T-Mobile and Verizon. Unlike the beta update, the OxygenOS 11 public update will gradually roll out to other devices as well.

OnePlus smartphones to support always-on display with Android 11

With the OxygenOS 11 update, the OnePlus devices will finally get the “Always-On Display” support. Now, there will also be a toggle in the notification center to easily switch between dark and light modes. The one-handed mode will include in the latest version of Oxygen OS.

It will provide better reachability for using large OnePlus smartphones with one hand. Apart from several UI changes, the developer preview introduced a few new camera-related features like Quick Share and Burst video. The Quick Share allows the user to quickly share the captured photo/video on social media apps.

Besides, the OxygenOS 11 will also include the new features announced by Google with Android 11. OnePlus will be adding the Android 11 features like the chat bubbles, notification history, pin apps, and one-time permissions. We have to wait and see what other changes will be introduced with the new Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 open beta.
