Qualcomm has already launched several Snapdragon chipsets with a ‘G’ suffix to offer better gaming performance. As per the latest leak, the company will soon announce a new chipset called Snapdragon 732G.
For that additional performance, the earlier launched gaming-focused Snapdragon chipsets were slightly overclocked than their standard counterparts. Now, the new Snapdragon 732G is said to be an upgrade to previously launched Snapdragon 730G.
Unannounced Snapdragon 732G will miss out on 5G connectivity
Also, the company is yet to announce the regular Snapdragon 732G Mobile Platform. According to the leak, the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 732G Mobile Platform will be priced under $300. While there are no more details mentioned, it will go on sale in Vietnam in September.
The rumored Galaxy M51 might be one of the first devices to feature this new chipset. As per the leaks, Samsung will reportedly use a new Snapdragon 700-series chipset on its new Galaxy M smartphone. Speaking of this unannounced Snapdragon 732G chipset, it is still built on the same 8nm FinFET process.
It packs the same Adreno 618 GPU which can be found on the Snapdragon 730 and Snapdragon 730G. However, it could be overclocked to offer better performance than its predecessors. On the CPU front, there are two Kryo 470 Gold cores clocked at 2.3Ghz and six Kryo 470 Silver cores clocked at 1.8GHz.
It is an upgrade to Snapdragon 730G
In comparison, the high-performance Kryo 470 Gold cores based on Cortex- A76 on the Snapdragon 730G are only clocked at 2.2GHz. With this configuration, the Snapdragon 732G-powered smartphones will have a slight advantage during power-intensive tasks.
It is also mentioned to come with better AI comparability, though it’s unclear how that translates in the real-world usage. Unfortunately, there is no support for the 5G connectivity. On the connectivity front, it might be coming with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon X15 LTE modem with 4G VoLTE support.
The other specifications could remain the same as on the Snapdragon 730G. It will most likely feature the same Spectra 350 ISP and Hexagon 688 DSP. Just last month, the company announced the Snapdragon 865 Plus as an upgrade to the flagship Snapdragon 865 Mobile Platform. The ASUS Rog Phone 3 is the first smartphone to debut with this new flagship chipset.
Compared to the Snapdragon 865, the CPU and GPU on the Plus variant offer 10 percent improvement in performance. The Snapdragon 865 Plus is also the world’s first mobile chipset to be clocked over 3GHz. The overclocked Kryo 585 CPU now offers a maximum clock speed of 3.1GHz.
