The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is still a long way from arriving, but some information just surfaced. According to Chun, a tipster, the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will feature a larger display, better hinge, and more.
He shared this information via a tweet. The tipster says that he is 100-percent sure that a larger display will be included, the same goes for an upgraded hinge. That’s not all, though.
The Galaxy Z Flip 2 will ship with a larger display, it seems
He also said that the phone will, for sure, include a new UTG display. So, it should be improved in that regard as well. On top of all that, a bigger battery will be included, as that larger display will require more juice.
He added that he still doesn’t have any information on the design and specs of the device. We’ll have to wait a bit more in order to get some information regarding all that.
Now, the tipster also said that he is a bit concerned about the high refresh rate display on the phone. We don’t know why that is, but perhaps he’s worried that the battery won’t have the right capacity to sustain the display. We’ll see.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 is expected to arrive in the first quarter of next year. It will, almost certainly, get announced alongside the Galaxy S21 series.
The phone may arrive in the first quarter of 2021
The Galaxy Z Flip got announced alongside the Galaxy S20, so it makes sense that its successor arrives with the next-gen Galaxy S flagships. The second-gen Galaxy Z Flip may actually resemble its predecessor quite a bit.
The Galaxy Z Flip is made out of metal and glass, and it actually sports really thin bezels. It includes a display camera hole, which is centered, and a tiny ‘ticker’ display on the outside.
We do hope that Samsung will make better use of that outer display on the device next year. That ticker display is somewhat usable, but not nearly as much as the outer display on the Motorola Razr and Razr 5G.
Considering that the phone will include a larger display next year, chances are it will include a larger footprint as well. The Galaxy Z Flip already has really thin bezels, so there’s not much Samsung can do in that regard.
It’s possible that the company will go for a narrower display aspect ratio, though. We’re only guessing, though, perhaps the company ends up keeping the same aspect ratio, we’ll see.
The Galaxy Z Flip 2 will probably be fueled by the Snapdragon 865 SoC, as the Galaxy Z Flip shipped with the Snapdragon 855. On the flip side, Samsung may change its mind, and include the Snapdragon 875 in the device, the same chip that is expected to fuel the Galaxy S21 series.
