Google Unveils Environmentally Conscious Nest Audio Speaker

The Google Nest Audio Speaker is now official. The company announced it during its Pixel launch event. This speaker actually leaked days before the announcement, so we kind of knew what to expect, at least in the design department.

The design of this speaker is minimal, as expected. Google has its own way of doing things in terms of the design, and not many people are complaining. This speaker will probably fit nicely in most environments, no matter how your bedroom, living room, office… or whatever place you plan to use it in looks like.

The Google Nest Audio is made from 70-percent recycled plastic

The Google Nest Audio speaker is environmentally conscious as well. This speaker is made from 70-percent recycled plastic, which is commendable. We do hope that more and more companies will try to do the same.

The speaker, as you can see in the provided images, is surrounded by fabric, like some other Google products. We’re not really sure what Google used here, but the Google Home’s outer layer is made from 33-percent nylon and 67-percent polyester, and the Nest Audio speaker is probably not far from that mark.

You will notice that the Google Nest Audio speaker does not have any physical buttons on it. It’s similar in that regard to the Nest Mini, as that puck-like speaker comes without buttons as well.

You will be able to control the speaker via a touch panel. In other words, you’ll be able to access play/pause options, and also control the volume of the speaker. This is also similar to what Nest Mini has to offer.

In terms of audio, we cannot really say if it’s any good or not, but reports prior to its launch said the sound is great. You’ll get stereo sound here, but the question is how good will it be.

75mm woofer is included, along with Bluetooth 5.0

We do know that the speaker comes with a 75mm woofer, 19mm tweeter, and 3 long-range microphones. That doesn’t sound bad at all, but still, we cannot make assumptions based on specs.

Google says that this device is 75-percent louder than the original Google Home, and that it has 50-percent stronger bass.

This speaker is also equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, and it supports WiFi dual-band ac. The speaker weighs 120 grams, and it measures 175 x 124 x 78mm. The device comes in five colors, Charcoal, Chalk, Sand, Sage, and Sky options. The Google Nest Audio is priced at $99.99, and it’s already available to pre-order.
