The Google Pixel 5 has just surfaced in real-life images, mere hours before launch. Two images of the device got shared by Jon Prosser, a well-known tipster. These two images show the phone from both the front, and the back.
We’ve seen a number of renders showing the device, and also a real-life image of the phone’s prototype, but only from the back. Well, this seems to be the final product.
Real-life Google Pixel 5 images reveal extremely thin, proportional bezels
The first thing I’ve personally noticed is how thin those bezels are. They’re definitely thinner than on the Pixel 4a. Those bezels also seem to be proportional, the bottom bezel doesn’t seem to be thicker than the rest.
A display camera hole sits in the top-left corner, while both the phone’s corner and its display corners are rounded. The display on this phone is flat, which is also easily noticeable here.
The back side looks exactly like we thought it will. A fingerprint scanner is located here, a regular capacitive one. Below it sits the company’s logo, while above it you’ll notice the phone’s rear-facing cameras.
Both of those cameras are placed inside the same camera module, which is located in the top-left corner of the phone’s back side. That camera module does protrude a bit.
You’ll also notice that the phone’s power / lock, and volume up and down buttons are located on the right side. Now, as far as the materials used are concerned, the phone will likely be made out of aluminum, but with a twist.
If tipsters are to be believed, Google used recycled aluminum to make this phone, but inside that shell on the back is a cutout for wireless charging. We don’t know where, though, as the phone’s shell is coated.
The phone will be quite compact, and sport a flat, 90Hz OLED display
We presume that the coating will make the phone less slippery, which is always a good call. These images also show that the phone will be as compact as we thought. It’s expected to sport a 6-inch fullHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate.
The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 765G 64-bit octa-core SoC. It will support 5G connectivity, and as you can see, this is not a flagship SoC. Google opted not to utilize the Snapdragon 865 (Plus).
Android 11 will come pre-installed on the phone, by the way. The Pixel 5 will be IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, while the device will also be quite light. A 4,000mAh battery is expected, along with 18W fast charging.
The Google Pixel 5 will become official later today, alongside the Pixel 4a 5G, and some other Google-made hardware. The event is set to start at 11 AM PST / 8 PM CET, by the way. You can check out our Pixel 5 preview, if you need more information.
