Longtime Chromebook maker HP has now announced a brand new Chromebox, the HP Chromebox Enterprise G3. As it’s branding entails, this mini-desktop-like Chrome OS gadget is not a standard Chromebook. Instead, the device is meant for use with a full-size monitor or monitors — much like a standard PC. But aiming at the business segment. And it may make its way over to the general consumer market as well.
That’s not to say this won’t be an incredibly powerful device for that market though. This is one Chromebox that not only stands out for its ports, hardware, and form factor. But also for its focus on versatility and performance, compared to previous Chromebox devices.
HP Chromebox Enterprise G3 is a powerhouse with ports to spare
The new HP Chromebox puts a strong focus on providing next-gen performance and connectivity for stay-at-home workers or for the front-desk workforce. And, as might be expected, that starts with the inclusion of Wi-Fi 6 support for faster, higher-capacity connections. But the connectivity extends well beyond that too.
HP includes no fewer than 11 ports and plugs with this gadget, including the AC power port. Of course that includes both USB-C and -A ports. But it also includes two HDMI 2.0 plugs. Those can output at up to 4K at 60 frames-per-second too. And power pass-through is part of that arrangement.
Then there’s a MicroSD Card slot, a 3.5mm audio combo jack, and an RJ-45 connector for ethernet hook-ups.
Setting aside the plugs and ports, HP embues the Chromebook Enterprise G3 with up to a 10th-Gen Intel Core i7-10610U processor. It backs that up with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 128GB PCIe NVMe SSD for storage.
All of that is to help workers in an IT-managed ecosystem get the most intensive tasks accomplished, regardless of where they’re working from, in a small but powerful and secure Chrome OS package.

Pricing and availability
As with HP’s recently launched AMD Ryzen-powered HP Pro c645 Chromebook Enterprise and non-enterprise laptops, the HP Chromebox Enterprise G3 isn’t quite ready for sales just yet. In fact, the availability of the new micro-desktop Chrome OS gadget won’t be ready until early December, according to HP. Pricing, the company says, will become available closer to launch.
