Samsung won a whopping 48 awards at the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2020. The company bagged one Gold, four Silvers, four Bronzes, and one Best-in-Show award in the competition, it announced on Thursday.

IDEA is one of the longest-running and most prestigious and influential design awards programs globally. Hosted annually by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) since 1980, 2020 marks the 40th anniversary of the show. This year’s edition was a virtual event that took place on Wednesday, September 16th.

Samsung won several top design awards at IDEA 2020 for creative, cutting-edge products across multiple categories. Those include its cooking range, Family Hub refrigerators, foldable smartphones, smart TVs, IoT devices, and more. This shows the Korean company’s expertise in creating interactive and sustainable product designs.

The refrigerator comes in multiple colors and lets consumers choose materials and types to fit their individual lifestyles and preferences. It has also won a Gold award at the International Forum (iF) Design Award 2020.

The refrigerator’s Family Hub UX, meanwhile, won Gold at IDEA 2020 for “delivering user-centric experience and innovation”. Users can share and create photos and recipes through the refrigerator screen while the companion mobile app allows remote access to the refrigerator.

The IDEA 2020 jury members were seeming very impressed with Samsung’s BESPOKE Family Hub refrigerator and its UX. The company was awarded a special, “Best-in-Show” award for this “consumer-centric design excellence.”

Samsung also bagged silver awards for its TV packaging solution. The company uses upcycling into packaging materials of its lifestyle TVs – The Frame, The Serif, and The Sero.
