iRobot is announcing the Roomba i3+ today, which is going to be its cheapest self-emptying robot vacuum to date.
But that is not all that the Roomba i3+ is focusing on here. The Roomba i3 falls in-line with the i7 and S9 series, coming with a plus model. So there is the Roomba i3 and i3+. As expected, the Roomba i3+ is the one that comes with the self-emptying base.
iRobot Roomba i3+ comes equipped with the Clean Base
Clean Base is what iRobot is calling its self-emptying base. Which has Automatic Dirt Disposal, so you won’t need to worry about forgetting to empty the vacuum, nor worry about spilling the dirt onto the ground.
The iRobot Roomba i3+ is able to empty up to 60 days worth of dirt and debris into the Clean Base before you need to empty that. The dirt is locked away in the enclosed AllergenLock bag, that will use four layers of allergen blocking material to trap 99 percent of pollen and mold.
Like previous Roomba robot vacuums, the i3 series is equipped with a High-Efficiency filter which will capture 99 percent of pollen, mold, dust mites and cat and dog allergens. It also uses iRobot’s patented 3-stage cleaning system, which consists of dual multi-surface rubber brushes that work together with the specially designed Edge-Sweeping Brush, and the 10X power-lifting suction. And this is compared to the 600 series.
The Roomba i3+ will “purposefully and logically clean in neat rows to navigate multiple rooms within the home.” It can also clean on hardwood floors and carpet with ease.
Roomba i3+ still works with the newly redesigned iRobot HOME app. Which allows users to take full control of their robot vacuum. It works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for voice control. And for home automation, there is support for IFTTT Connect.
Pricing & Availability
The iRobot Roomba i3+ can be purchased later this month, for $599 in the US and $749 in Canada.
There is also the option to purchase this Roomba without the Clean Base – which is being marketed as the Roomba i3 – for $399 in the US and $499 in Canada.
iRobot says that the Roomba i3+ will be available in other markets in the first quarter of 2021.
This effectively makes the i3 and the i3+ some of the cheapest robot vacuums in iRobot’s lineup. Never mind the fact that this is definitely the cheapest self-emptying robot vacuum in the Roomba lineup. As the Roomba i7+ started out at over $1,000.
