Latest OnePlus 7 & 7 Pro Beta Update Introduces New Gaming Features

OnePlus is rolling out a new OxygenOS Open Beta build for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro smartphones. Interestingly, the company is releasing the open beta updates even after launching two new generations of smartphones. OnePlus launched the OnePlus 8 series in April this year. Besides, the company is also gearing up for the launch of OnePlus 8T.

As per the changelog, the latest OxygenOS Open Beta 18 for the OnePlus 7 smartphones includes September 2020 security patch. Moreover, the GMS package is also updated to August 2020. That being said, it is still a beta update and is not recommended to use on primary smartphones.

OnePlus 7 series receive Open Beta 18 update with new gaming features

For all the current OnePlus 7 smartphones running on the latest version of the open beta, the new OxygenOS Open Beta 18 will come in the form of an OTA update. If there is no notification about the new update, you can always manually check for the update by heading over to Settings > System > System updates.

Once the new update is available, tap on the “Download & Install Now” button. All the other interested users have to manually flash the full update package. OnePlus also mentioned a couple of bug fixes for the known issues related to the screen recorder and the notification bar.

Apparently, the major highlight of this beta update is the new gaming-related features introduced within the Game space. When the Fnatic mode is turned on, there will be three options for notifications. The users can always block the notifications to play the games without any distractions.

OnePlus also added a mistouch prevention feature

Furthermore, there is also an option to choose between “text only” or “heads up” to never miss any important update. This new update also brings in a new “Quick Reply” feature for replying to messages on apps like WhatsApp without exiting the game. It basically opens a window in PIP format on top of the ongoing game.

The users can access the quick reply feature by swiping down from the upper right or upper left corner of the screen. Moreover, it only works when the device is in game mode. OnePlus also newly added a mistouch prevention feature. As the name suggests, it will help the users in avoiding possible mistouches on the notification panel.

While none of these new features improve any kind of performance, they should at least improve the user’s gameplay. The company also updated the Community app with an optimized log information capture function.

OnePlus also added an option called “Mall” in the community app for purchasing smartphones and other OnePlus products. However, it takes a few weeks for these newly introduced features to show up in the public update.
